Does anyone know what all this stupidity with hashtags and numbers being turned into links and journal tags is all about? It's going to take me forever to go through all my entries and put in a space to get rid of the links that are spontaneously appearing and lead nowhere. What is LJ playing at this time? It's an unwanted nuisance that serves no purpose whatsoever >=[

Bingo?

So, who else fancies signing up for [community profile] genprompt_bingo with me? It looks like it could be fun, and it's pretty low pressure for a bingo...

Am I crazy? After cottoncandy_bingo, I said Never Again, but hey, you only live once, right? I'm quite excited by the idea. Of course I haven't signed up yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to, so if someone else did too it would be nice! Can I tempt anyone?

Is there anyone still around who'd be interested in betaing one of my fics for December Fest at [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_fest?

So far I'm working on two, they're due for posting by January 2nd so there's plenty of time still, and the fics aren't finished yet. Looks like both will be 2000+ words each, and there's always a chance that I might write more for the Fest, so I'd like to line up a beta or two in advance if I can.

Also, come on writers, there are festive prompts going begging for December Fest, so if you think you might have time to write something Christmassy, then get over there. It's very relaxed, you don't need to claim a prompt or sign up officially, just write for any prompt that catches your eye. Prompt post is here. Fills only need to be 500 words or over, that shouldn't be too hard to fit in!

I am in need of assistance from my lovely friends. Did any of you watch Miracle Day? I didn't and never intend to, but I need to know something for a fic I'm writing, so:

Can anyone tell me what length of time the events of Miracle Day are supposed to cover?

Thanks to everyone who left suggestions for Ianto's alias, I've saved all the suggestions for later use and due to various people making Bond-related suggestions, I've settled on him borrowing the name of an actor who appeared in many Bond movies - Q himself, Desmond Llewellyn, or Des for short.

OoOoOoO

Now, an even bigger problem. The TARDIS is getting rather put out - everyone has a name except her, and she's starting to wonder why. So, what name might she pick for herself, or what might Ianto choose for her?

All suggestions welcome, and they don't need to be human names, feel free to make something up. Aliens need alien names too! =D

I could use a little help, so all you fans of my ongoing fic Through Time and Space, what I need is an alias for Ianto to use in his travels, a name he can call himself when he's among people he may not want knowing his real identity.

Any suggestions?

Does anyone know if there is an official (or an unofficial but generally accepted by fandom) surname for Alex, the Torchwood Three leader who massacred his entire team at the millennium? I can't help thinking I've seen it somewhere and I don't want to make up my own if he already has a name.

Hello again, my wonderful f-list, I come seeking help again!

One of my remaining prompts is 'Compliments' so I'm trying to compile a list of instances during the show (or the radio plays) where Jack and Ianto compliment each other - or even just say something complimentary about each other to the team. So far, most of what I can remember is from Fragments - Love the coat, Love the suit, etc. - and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Ianto's 'You're good on roofs' line and saying to the team that Jack is dashing. There must be others, but I can't think and I don't have time to watch two seasons of Torchwood right now, not when I need to keep writing, so I'm hoping some of you might have better memories than I've got and could help me out. *puppy dog eyes* Pretty please?

Does anyone have any ideas? If you can remember the episode as well, that would be even better so I can keep to chronological order.

Thank you in advance =D

I had hoped to get another bingo fic posted today, but life conspired against me. I have to to out tomorrow so much of the day has been spent getting organised for that. What with trying to get another fic written, I didn't have time to post one as well as today's drabble. However, I did eventually manage to write one.

That means I now have two bingo fics to be betaed - one of just under 1000 words, the other over 1700 words, so I'm looking for a couple of volunteers. I'm trying not to dump all my fics on just one person, and I still have another 9 prompts to write, so if anyone can beta one of the two I have ready, or would like to volunteer in advance for one I haven't written yet, I'd be very grateful - I know many on my f-list are busy with their own bingo cards and other writing, but if anyone can spare a little time, that would be great!

Thank you! *hugs*

Can anyone on my f-list do a quick beta job on a short (less than 1,000 word) bingo fic for me? I'd like to get another one posted tomorrow, I'm fast running out of time and I have so many still to write, I've got to post faster, lol!

I need to know if it's fluffy enough, if it fits the prompt okay, if it makes sense and if I've made any glaring mistakes that need fixing.

Does anyone happen to know if it's mentioned anywhere in Torchwood or Doctor Who exactly when and/or how Jack came into possession of the Doctor's severed hand?

I've been asked for a drabble on the subject but I don't have time to watch all of Torchwood and the relevant Doctor Who episodes in the hopes of possibly finding something about it.

Help, please? *begs prettily*

Is anyone else finding it impossible to post to [livejournal.com profile] torchwoodcoffee these days? I just get error messages...

Fluff!

Does anyone know if there are any Fluff or similar bingos around? Just wondering in case I might like to try a bingo at some point. I'm no good at h/c or anything smutty but I can Fluff pretty well.

The Hub, the general Torchwood community on Dreamwidth, appears to have vanished. This is not good. I know a lot of us who have Dreamwidth accounts regularly cross posted our fics there and its loss has left a big hole.

Therefore, I am hoping - if I can gather enough interest and some knowledgeable assistance - to set up a new Torchwood community on Dreamwidth. The idea is for it to be for all things Torchwood: Fic, art, recs, information, maybe even the occasional discussion,

So, this is to find out who is interested and who would be willing to help, bearing in mind that I don't have a clue about what I'm trying to do.

It would have to be a basic free account, at least to start with, but it would be a place for fans to find everything Torchwood-related on Dreamwidth.

Thoughts? Questions? Help?

We have a small bookshop in town that sells seconds - books that have been damaged in transit, have torn or marked c overs etc. Basically, anything that isn't good enough to be sold as new.

Recently, they've had a rather random selection of Manga, so I've been buying some. I'm not really knowledgeable on the subject, I haven't read much, though I do recognise some titles from reviews I've read in S.F. and cult TV type magazines. I don't know whether what I'm buying is even any good, I'm mostly buying titles that I recognise and I'm restricted to what's available, which means odd volumes and getting Volume 1 of anything is rare, though I have managed in a couple of cases.

Here's what I've got so far:

Kenichi Sonoda Presents Gunsmith Cats - Volume 1 - Burst (Dark Horse Manga)
Yasuhiro Nightow's Trigun 1: The $$60,000,000,000 Man & 2: Wolfwood
Vampire Hunter D Volume 4: Tale of the Dead Town by Hideyuki Kikuchi
Kouta Hirano's Hellsing Volume 1
Blade of the Immortal Volumes 12-17 by Hiroaki Samura (This is what I'm reading at the moment and I absolutely love it!)

So, Manga fans out there - how am I doing? Anything I shouldn't have wated my money on? Anything I should avoid at all cost?

Also, any recommendations of what I should look out for? I'm flying blind here, so a bit of advice would be most welcome. Manga is difficult to come by (and to afford) for those of us who don't have access to specialist shops. As I don't get out much and can't travel far, I'm limited to what shows up in our little cheap shop (or occasionally ebay).

Please, help a Manga novice out!

I've read several fics lately where one or other Torchwood team member gets inadvertently turned into something else. Cats are the most common - Ianto, Jack and even Owen have spent time as cats. Either Jack or Ianto (can't remember which now) was a dog for a time, Ianto has been a My Little Pony and a dolphin, while Jack and Rhys were sloths for a bit. Oh, and Owen has been a small snake. Getting transformed seems to be an occupational hazard.

Can anyone think of any others?
