Does anyone know what all this stupidity with hashtags and numbers being turned into links and journal tags is all about? It's going to take me forever to go through all my entries and put in a space to get rid of the links that are spontaneously appearing and lead nowhere. What is LJ playing at this time? It's an unwanted nuisance that serves no purpose whatsoever >=[

There's a new community in town and it needs your support!

How many words does it take to beat the black dog? Let's find out.

Beat The Black Dog beattheblackdog is a community to support all those writers who struggle with depression, who've battled depression in the past, or who know someone who is trying to beat the black dog. It's also for the readers, whose support means so much to writers.

There's a weekly writing challenge, and a support centre for people who are struggling, to enable them to connect with other writers and share their stories. There'll also be a running tally of how many words are written.

Please help support us! Share the above post with your friends, and if you know any mods for other communities who don't mind giving us a shout out, that would be fantastic too!

Is anyone else finding it impossible to access their Friends Page?

I click on mine, see if for a few seconds, then it goes straight to my Recent Entries page. It's driving me NUTS!

If anyone has a new post up, sorry, but short of going through all my f-list's journals one by one, which I don't have time to do, it looks like I won't be seeing anything, at least for today =(

Just what has LJ mucked up now?

*wanders away grumbling*

ETA: It's worse than I thought! it won't let me look at an individual post, OR let me look at the comments to a post, which rules out participating at [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic until LJ fixes this, since I can't see any of the prompts. I don't know yet if I'll be able to leave comments either. So far the only good thing is that I can still post. Bloody LJ. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.

WTF?!!!!

WHAT THE FUCK HAS LJ DONE NOW?!!!!

The new update page is horrible, I can barely read half the writing on it now with my eyesight, I have to get right up to the screen and squint!

And the standard journal page is as bad or worse, the tags are now so small and blue I can't read them.

I am just so sick of LJ changing things for no reason and making them more difficult to use. A lot of us have vision problems, but they just don't give a damn about their users. I should be used to that by now, but it still drives me mad  >= [

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva at "Suspicious comments" and "Spam comments": LJ decision to 'block' spam is a big FAIL!
So I've been noticing in both my own journal and communities that I haven't been able to see some comments even thought it says there are more comments there than are actually showing up. Instead I'm getting a place holder that says (Spam comment) or (Suspicious comment).

Why are these showing up like this you may ask? In their rush to fight spam LJ has created a new filter that're AUTOMATICALLY TURNED ON in ALL journals and communities, which screens comments that are made with 'suspicious links' ie links that are not on their safe whitelist, so pretty much the majority of the internet. There is no noted way to add to the 'whitelist'.

What really gets me is that they didn't inform people that they were doing this until a week after it was done and that it was automatically turned on.

So how do I turn it off you might ask.

That's simple. Go to your Settings, click on the Privacy tab, and half way down where it says Spam Protection uncheck the box next to "Comments containing a link to a non-whitelisted domain will be marked as spam and moved to a special section." This applies to both personal journal and communities and the opinion has to be manually changed in each one.

While I understand how this could be a good idea, I think they went about it in a very backhanded way, and have implemented it poorly. There was no message to anyone that the link has been screened. It's automatically done. This went on for over a week before they said anything about it. There is still nothing in the FAQs about it even. The only way I found out about this way going through the support pages where people were reporting similar issues.

Please share this!

ETA: This links really illustrates the problems.
