Rabbit Update - The Sequel

So, new update. I just spoke to vetinary nurse Rhiannon, and Misty is out of surgery and awake. They're coaxing him to nibble some food and things are looking reasonably good. He's staying there another night so they can keep a close eye on him, just to be on the safe side, but I'm to phone at 9am tomorrow and hopefully he'll be well enough to come home then. I'll let you know when he's home.

Thank you to everyone for your hugs, good wishes, thoughts and prayers, you've helped me get through two very stressful, worrying days. I'm blessed to have so many great, animal-loving friends, you're the best!

I could happily go the rest of the year with no more worries - I'm sure this has taken me over my stress quota for the decade! It'll be a relief to get him home, even though he'll have to go back next week for his post-op check.

All hugs gratefully received, I'll pass them on to Misty tomorrow, even though it means I will be smothered in white fluff - again! How can he lose so much fluff and still be so fluffy?

Is it normal "fluff" loss? lol! My cat, Neo, loses tons of fur at the vet's office. It just falls off without touching him. It happens to him because he is so scared. It never falls out that fast any other time. He HATES going to the vet! He meows the most awful wailing sounds while we are driving him there. lol! Poor little guy.

Amen to that! I want him all bouncy and stuffing himself as soon as possible! There's a reason he's so heavy - though he's not overweight, just a good, healthy weight for his size. He's a big boy!

Sounds like my cat, Neo, well usually. Right now he is a bit thin being a very hot July and August + he lost a bunch when we were on vacation that week in June. Our cats were fed by Michael's brother, but I think they missed us. I am afraid to ever leave them too long. Cats hate change and I think they got depressed. Petey started sleeping up closer to us in the bed once we came home. I worry about him more because he only has 3 legs and even though he acts like he is "top dog...I mean cat!" so to speak, I think he is more needy than Neo. Oh, Neo always fattens up in the winter time and even though he is a short haired cat, his stomach and fur sticks out and he waddles when he walks. I call him my little fat boy. lol! :D He doesn't really get that fat,...and like your rabbit, he is just a "Big" guy, and mine has short legs and is so is adorable to me like I am sure your rabbit is to you. Did that make sense? lol!

I took a pain pill tonight. Can you tell? lol!
I'm itchy, but happy!....oh dear...! Being out of pain after weeks of nothing but Lidocane numbing gel is just Heaven! Shame the pill has to wear off. I go to the pain clinc on Tuesday next week. I found out you can use Lidocane too much. I have tried to refill one too many times and now I can't buy any until the 11th of Aug. for the insurance to pay. I read that if you use it too much on large areas it "could" cause heart attacks or seizures. How weird. It is topical, but it still can go into the blood stream. So when I get it again, I am going to have to make sure I use as little as possible which is difficult with my problem.

Yes it is! It's a tremendous relief to know that tooth is gone and the rest are trimmed so he's comfy.

I'll be talking to George the vet tomorrow, seems Misty may have absesses in his jaw bones on the left hand side. Just got to wait and see. Right now I'm worried about the cost of treatment, because I'm not able to work there's not a lot of money coming in. I have some small savings, but I'd hoped to save that so I have something to live on later on. Looks like I may need to spend it on Misty. Poor old thing. Hopefully I can have him home tomorrow, but he might wind up staying until the weekend if he still needs treatment. Keeping fingers crossed!

Oh the money part is the worst and unfortunately, at least in the States, there is no insurance for pets like for children. I do have a special card and account that only one vet place takes that makes it more affordable to have our cats cared for when they really need it. As usual, can't think of the name of it right now.

So glad the surgery is done and that Misty is doing well! Yay!

He's not so little - quite a big bruiser actually! I have trouble picking him up because of my arthritis, feels like he weighs a ton!

I'll be phoning the vet about 11.30 to see how things stand and if I can bring him home. He had an x-ray that shows he may have absesses in gis jaw, but one of them might be more sinister. We'll just have to see how he goes with treatment. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

I saw that you have Misty home, going to answer that post soon. I was just checking these older ones first. Oh, I am so sorry about Misty's jaw? I hope the vet can treat those and make him well....and how much does BIG Misty weigh? lol! Our cats weigh around 9 to 10 pounds I would say, though they lost weight over vacation so they may not be back up to their full weight. Neo lost 3 or 4 pounds I am guessing, but I think he has gained some of it back. By Dec. or Jan. he will probably be my fat, furry, waddling cat again. lol!

Thank you, I hope so too. He was doing okay last night, came round from the anaesthetic with no problems, but was still not very interested in food. I'm phoning the vet in an hour or so (can't phone yet as he'll be doing surgeries, he's booked solid this week), so I'll find out then how things are going.

Thank you, it is hard. I've got to phone the vet again in a few minutes to see if Misty can come home yet. He still wasn't eating properly this morning, but George said he looked happier and more comfortable so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Nothing seems right without him here.

Butting in again...but I agree, if I don't have the whole family here that includes our cats, it just feels so empty. Glad he's home now. :D
