WHAT THE FUCK HAS LJ DONE NOW?!!!!
The new update page is horrible, I can barely read half the writing on it now with my eyesight, I have to get right up to the screen and squint!
And the standard journal page is as bad or worse, the tags are now so small and blue I can't read them.
I am just so sick of LJ changing things for no reason and making them more difficult to use. A lot of us have vision problems, but they just don't give a damn about their users. I should be used to that by now, but it still drives me mad >= [

Date: 2014-05-15 07:56 pm (UTC)How do I find this so-called 'home page' with the icons, because damned if I can find anything that looks like what you're describing!

go to the blue bar across the top, towards the right hand end there should be a little cloud with a question mark in it OR possibly a blank blue square. If you click it you should get taken to a page where you have the option to leave feedback and below that an option to change back to the old style. Just keep clicking places on the blue bar because even if you can't see it (and it's NOT visible for a lot of people) I'm told it IS there, it's just maybe a case of trying until you click on the right spot.
Good luck!

Date: 2014-05-19 05:39 pm (UTC)I get mine checked every year, and every year I have to pay out for new glasses. I've worn glasses since I was 13.

Date: 2014-05-19 06:49 pm (UTC)Apparently because my mother has a rare form of glaucoma, I've been advised to keep a check on my eyes. Haven't been able to do so financially because NY temp work was seriously affected by that 9/11 debacle. It's only because I requested termination of my 3rd assignment at the WTC that I avoided what happened. People don't realize that so many businesses were affected by that destruction; many law firms lost a giant client base temporarily. I was lucky that the firm I worked for kept me going even 2 days a week for a long time. I'll set up an appointment in the next 2 weeks; that damn blurriness is affecting my beading as well as typing.

Date: 2014-05-19 06:59 pm (UTC)So much was affected by 9/11 that people don't consider. The WTC was an immense and very busy building, probably part of why it was targeted. I still clearly remember standing in mum's bedroom watching it on the news, I could barely believe what I was seeing.

Date: 2014-05-19 07:29 pm (UTC)In the circle of people I run with, at least 9 of us were either down there when 9/11 happened, had temp assignments that were cancelled literally the night before or had had people there who were missing (but were fortunately on vacation) when it happened. According to my son, for reasons of national security, not many people know that his Army unit was also down there. I know they were because I saw the convoy that very same evening as it rolled down the West Side Highway with that crane on 2 flatbed trucks. My son was also there; his unit was helping to locate survivors, if any. None of us discuss it; none of us participate in events relating to it. Not because we may be ignoring what happened, but because some of them still have nightmares years later. It took me 2 years to take any assignments in that area; those Towers were location markers for a lot of people and I simply got lost a lot. Unfortunately, one assignment had me placed directly across the street from the hole and another had me a block away on the 46th floor. One reason I did like the Towers is that the Fire Department always - without fail, every single month and on ALL shifts, including weekends - ran fire drills so people would know what to do in an emergency once a month. That is why there were far more survivors than what people realize. Also, this happened during a vacation period and flex hours were in play. There weren't 100,000 people down there; it was less than half! I spent 5 years and 1 week down there; I had to leave after being put on the 79th Floor of the North Tower when it reopened. Believe me, I still see that Tower smoking and then falling... I've been trying to get out of NY ever since. I'm very leery of going above the 15th floor if I can help it. Every time something happens here in NY involving a skyscraper, my phone goes crazy from friends trying to find out where I am-ad I do appreciate their concern, but it isn't a normal way to live. My assignment right now is on the 11th Fl at Citicorp Plaza but I'm always let someone know where I am and look for exits. Not all buildings run fire drills :( My son is my biggest pain in the ass but I understand why he always wants to know where I am when working; his father does too. Texting is a good thing!
