WHAT THE FUCK HAS LJ DONE NOW?!!!!

The new update page is horrible, I can barely read half the writing on it now with my eyesight, I have to get right up to the screen and squint!

And the standard journal page is as bad or worse, the tags are now so small and blue I can't read them.

I am just so sick of LJ changing things for no reason and making them more difficult to use. A lot of us have vision problems, but they just don't give a damn about their users. I should be used to that by now, but it still drives me mad  >= [

I just logged on and it actually looks bigger to me. I did notice that it would allow me to change back. So you shouldn't be stuck with it.

Everything looks much bigger to me, too. Maybe it's your browser settings that need tweaking? Nothing is ever easy, is it?

I couldn't find any way to change back, guess I'd better go and have another look.

The writing is now paler so I can't see it clearly, and the tags lists are pale blue on white which I find hard to focus on. I need black on white so I can see without straining my eyes.

Thanks, I'll see if I can switch back because I really don't like it.

I wouldn't even know where to start tweaking berowser settings. All I know is this is damned ugly and the writing is paler which plays havoc with my eyes. The tags lists are all in pale blue on white and the text of them is smaller. I'm disgusted at being stuck with something that strains my eyes. I get enough migraines as it is, this wil make it worse.

To switch back on mine what I did was go to thing that is supposed to be a home page and in the top right there were a couple of icons, the one furthest right Gave me two options, send feed back (I told them the new design was awful) and most importantly the switch back to old style.

I'm lucky I still have my friends page then! *hugs* The whole thing is just one nightmare after another. Why am I still paying for this crap? Oh yeah, so I can still have the paltry icon allowance I get for my 'loyalty'

Did I mention I can't access my own profile? I click on that, get a brief flash of it and then I'm on my recent entries page. And I have a JOURNAL! I don't want it called a blog, it's not a blog. Apparently, we pay to have things the way THEY want them to be, not the way WE want them.

I've had enough of this rubbish =(

I can't even FIND any icons on my home page, and it won't let me access my own profile page either. The first thing I knew about any of this was when LJ stopped working while I was trying to post, then when I got it back my update page had changed beyond recognition.

How do I find this so-called 'home page' with the icons, because damned if I can find anything that looks like what you're describing!

Well, that's something, but WTF is a FEED! Why can't we leave it as what is a, a page to view our friends' journals?

Read through these and could not find the speed bubble with question mark. You can adjust text size on a page, though. If you use Firefox, there is an extension: Default Full Zoom Level, that lets you enlarge/decrease either text size or the entire page, and then reset if necessary. I don't use IE, so can't help you there.

I think this stems from all these social sites competing with each other. I happen to like them all to be different. After all, I use them for different things. When I want to rant or simply post a long, arduous post I use LJ. I use it to read fic, post fic, share fandom pictures and other fandom things. Twitter I use mostly to chat with my friends. Facebook I use to share information, chat a bit, laugh and funny posts, and play games. Tumblr I use to blog or share fandom photos. I don't need LJ to be like those other places. I have those other places already. That's why I don't use Dreamwidth. I have an account at the ready, but I don't use it because I have LJ.

Well, I don't use Firefox, but I found the speech bubble and got switched back to the old version, so I'm safe from eyestrain for now. Thanks for your efforts though *hugs*

I don't use Facebook, twitter or tumblr, I have enough accounts to keep up with as it is, lol, I'd never get anything done id I had more! I DO use my dreamwidth account though, I like it there - it's like LJ was before all the changes - but most of my friends are only here, so I need to be here despite the way the site itself keeps going downhill. I just don't get why anyone would want to change a successful journal site into a social site clone that's most likely inferior to the existing ones. It's not necessary and it's already losing a lot of users judging by the number of accounts being deleted. =(

My day's been a disaster from beginning to end, this was just one infuriating thing among many *sigh*

However, thesilversun's instructions work - I'm back on the old style. Just find the speech bubble with the question mark in it, click it and you'll find a way to switch back. I don't like the old update page very much, but it's still a hell of a lot better than this monstrosity they're trying to foist on us now!

I second everything you've said. I have bad eyesight (these giant geeky glasses aren't just for show!) compounded by eyestrain, and this new page is literally painful to read. And now there's more of what I hate on the homepage (I don't give a flying f*ck about what communities are trending) and less of what I want (my communities and friends.) Two minutes in and I switched back to the old version. I hope they let us keep that option indefinitely! Not that it was so great either. But at least I was used to it.

On top of all, this, there was NO warning whatsoever! How about putting that on the homepage, instead of the latest news from ONTD and exochocolate, whatever that is, for heaven's sake.

I'm extremely glad my refusal to upgrade my Friends page was grandfathered in and my journal looks the same as well. The front page can go fuck itself since I only want to peruse the main stories and move on.

However, the only way I can read the comments on your journal is to highlight them but that's the way it's always been.

I'm glad I am not the only one who pays just so I can have more icons. I post so little anymore, I keep wondering why I keep paying every year and now they are fooling with things again. I guess I didn't say yes to changing it because mine still looks mostly the same though I agree on the page where I post, thing look a little bigger, not sure why?

I am still on Dreamwidth too, but if I was going to use it as my main site, I would want to pay over there and not here. I can't afford to pay for two sites. I think they know we like our icons and take advantage of that. I think I have more friends here too so I stay. One day I may change it though. We talk the most and you are on Dreamwidth. Not sure what to do? It does seem like a ghost ship around here lately.
