There’s a new crafting community, both here and on LJ Dreamwidth. I know, because I’m the one who set it up!

It’s called [livejournal.com profile] get_knitted, but is in fact for whatever kinds of crafts you like to indulge in.

It’s a place to get together, talk about what you’re making, share pictures and progress reports, ask questions, swap information and unwanted items from your crafting stashes, and hopefully make new crafty friends.

From somewhere around the middle of the month I’ll start daily check-in posts where members can leave comments to let us know how their projects are coming along. Nobody has to check-in every day, just whenever you feel like it.

Members can also volunteer to host check-in posts for a week (on the community, not on your own journal). It’s a great way to get everyone talking to each other, like a crafting club that meets every day, different people dropping by when they have the time or inclination.

So if you enjoy crafting, whether you’re experienced or a beginner, why not join, introduce yourself, and settle in to work on that abandoned project you’ve got gathering dust in the cupboard? With the support and encouragement of your fellow crafting enthusiasts, maybe this time you’ll get it finished!

Halloween might not be much this year, but I got into the spirit a little by making some Googly Bugs.

I got some new charms so I made a few more pendants. I'm having WAY too much fun making these =D

Every Halloween I like to offer the kids a little extra something along with their candy. I had intended to knit some little critters, but I was busy with other things and I never got started, so I decided to whip up a few pendants instead. I got a little carried away... Anyway, I promised a friend I'd post pictures, so here they are.

Back stitch on the girl herself is now complete and I've started on the border, just across the bottom so far. Seven roses and two butterflies to go. It's so exciting!

I know I only updated yesterday, but the difference the back stitch is making is so striking I just had to share. There's still a lot to do, but it's taken me two days, and about three hours of stitching, to get this far.

I've been a bit remiss about posting updates, got a bit carried away with the stitching, so here are the last two pictures. I'm on to the back stitch now, which is going to take a while, but it's already looking good. The only back stitch on these pictures is around her eyes.

Okay, here's a set of floral designs I finished late last year but didn't get around to photographing until now. They're stitched on 14 count with two strands of thread.

A little later than intended, thanks to life getting in the way, but here at last are the pics of the 60th birthday card I made for my friend. Unfortunately, it went a bit wonky when I stuck it to the card because it's quite large. I used one strand of thread on 18 count fabric, so the stitched piece is a little over 6 inches tall by about 3 1/3 wide.

There should be more to the border, another shade filling in most of the gaps, but I liked the simpler version so I left it at that.

I've finally managed to finish a set of really fiddly designs. The pictures don't show it very clearly but they used 15 colours, some of which were so similar I couldn't see the difference except in bright daylight. There's also a lot of backstitch, and one of the designs I had to start again after accidentally dropping my yogurt on the first attempt...

I finished another set of small designs for cards, this time some bees and honey. The two small ones were stitched on 14 count and and the four larger ones on 16 count, because that was all I had that was easily accessible. Most of my fabric is stored in a big old chest that currently has a lot of stuff piled on top it and I didn't feel like moving it all to get at my stash of 14 count.

Yay! I've managed to complete another set of designs! These ones are a mix of cross stitch and coloured blackwork, stitched on 14 count. The big ones were designed for bookmarks but I'll be making mine into birthday cards as I've got some tall, narrow card blanks that will fit them nicely. The two small ones will be gift tags.

I started stitching these a few years back and recently discovered them again - five were complete, one only needed a bit of back stitch, and the last two hadn't been started, so I thought I'd better finish the set before I got on with anything new. I stitched them on 18 count fabric, instead of the recommended 14 count, which proved really fiddly, but I think the end result makes them worth the effort, eye strain, and headaches... Doubt I'll stitch them again though. @_@

As some of you know, I'm in the process of having medical tests in an attempt to find out what's wrong with me. Anyway, the good news is that all my blood tests came back normal, ruling out some things I was worried about. The less good news is that I'm still no closer to finding out why I feel so bad. No doubt that will mean more tests, possibly of the more intrusive kind. Not my idea of fun.

Halloween Charms

On a brighter note, to everyone who requested Halloween charms, they were posted by me this morning so hopefully you'll get them before too long! I just hope They arrive safely and that you'll like them...

The last charms have arrived, so I've been a busy bee. Have a picture...

Charms 3

Here we have Witch Heads, two kinds of Witches on Broomsticks, two kinds of Halloween Cats, and two kinds of creepy Spiders.

Anyone who would like one, be sure to comment and let me know which you'd like, either from this set or from the previous two sets. Follow the handy links below to look at pictures.

Halloween Charms Set Two

Don't forget to PM your address if I don't already have it.

Here's the second set of charms for Halloween. Hopefully there will be a third set, I want some more witch charms because the ones I've got are really tiny. I made another 2 dozen todat, so I have four of each design. If any of my friends want one, let me know which and if I don't already have your address, PM me. I have a few more of each charm and I'll post another picture when I get the other charms I want - witches, cats, possibly some of those eight legged arachnids too. (I won't use the S word *wink*). I'm having too much fun to stop now!

Charms 2

Still can't decide whether to try making a pumpkin Jack O' Lantern...

Halloween is only a few weeks away, so I've been playing around, making Halloween phone/handbag charms and a few pairs of earrings. I've made 24 charms so far and about a dozen pairs of earrings, which I haven't photographed because they're just metal charms on ear wires for pierced ears, but here's some of the charms.

Charms 1

I have some other charms on order, little witches and crescent moons, so I'll probably make a few more when they arrive. I love Halloween!

I've been working on this for a couple of weeks, charting the design before stitching it, and I'm rather pleased with the result. The coffee cup motif is from Cross Stitcher Issue 262 and the main alphabet is from Issue 265. I designed the border myself. I plan to stitch it again, but with a wider border to fit in a frame I bought.

Here's the completed stitching...

Ianto Reverse

Reverse View - I'm pleased with how tidy it is.

Ianto Complete

And here's the finished product. I was going to fringe the edges, but that just didn't seem right for Ianto. He's always so precise and neat, so I left it.

It was supposed to be stitched on 18 count, but I think I ended up using 16 count by accident, lol!
