Spoilers: Human Nature/The Family of Blood

Summary: Hiding from the Family had been an act of kindness, but they misunderstood.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

It wasn’t fear that made him use the chameleon arch to hide himself away among humans. The Family of Blood were dangerous, certainly, but he’d faced far worse enemies and stood firm.

They kept following him though, with their stolen vortex manipulator, and he knew they’d never give up; wherever he went in time or space, they’d be right behind him. Hiding was his only option, but they hadn’t understood. They’d kept hunting him; even hiding hadn’t been enough.

He’d wanted to spare them, but they’d wanted to live forever, and now they would.

Be careful what you wish for.

She was more than "just a temp".

The Duplicate Doctor knew Donna lack confidence despite the Doctor calling her brilliant all the time. It is only when she becomes DoctorDonna that she believes in herself.

So much could have been done with that story line - remove the Doctor's knowledge from her mind, but leave Donna knowing exactly what she's capable of. Instead, he just pressed the reset button.

It was an injustice to Donna. A reset button where the problem could not be fix. But if it was Rose...

I hate that reset button, it's lazy writing. You wouldn't have got that in Buffy. Consequences had to be worked through there, no easy fixes.

RTD really dug himself into a big hole with Donnas fate. Even with Roses ending he should have left it at series 2 but no.

He did, but then he made a habit of that. Characters he liked always had a way out. Anyone else, it was Dead is Dead, people don't come back, when their story is done, that's that. Grrr!

I don't know, maybe he knew he only had the actress for one season and thought this was a good way to end her story, but it just took away everything Donna had gained and that sucked, and you KNOW that wouldn't have happened to Rose - or Gwen - RTD's darlings.

Whatever the circumstance Donna and the Duplicate Doctor should have stayed together. Best mates forever. None of this fan service crap with Rose.

She only "malfunctioned" after the Duplicate left her. Which makes me believe they were suppose to stay together. He could have kept her stable.

Wow, that's a really interesting idea, it makes perfect sense! But Ten was intent on giving Rose a version of himself that she didn't even really want because it was only a duplicate. Grrr, your version is so much better!

I don't really read DW fanfic, simply because I can't keep up with Torchwood, which is my number one fandom, but I think that scenario is a really good one. This is why fanfic is so much better than canon. Far greater imagination.

Even when I'm tierd from classes, I can't wait to get home and write a fic.
