I have a pair of jeans that I always wear when I go out because they fit me perfectly and they're just sooooo comfortable (I've been wearing them for 35 years), but now they're developing fashionable tears and I'm at an age where I prefer my clothes not to have holes in them that aren't meant to be there.

So, long story short, I went digging in my wardrobe to find out what trousers I can wear tomorrow... and horror of horrors, HARDLY ANYTHING FITS!!!!

My gorgeous stripy jeans that I adore won't do up, neither will my pretty pale pink pair, which are labelled size 14, but they can't be because I'm a size 12 and they don't fit and if they're size 14 then they damn well SHOULD fit! I AM still a size 12, damnit!
Except around the middle apparently.

I've had to throw out three other pairs as well... (okay, one pair fitted but they're vile and I don't even remember where they came from, probably mum's cast-offs).

I did find two pairs of jeans that fastened but were a bit tight, one pair that are comfortable but have ridiculously shallow pockets (I need good pockets), and one pair that have deep pockets and fit quite well (and have elastic in the waist). But they DO fit, so I guess I know what I'm wearing tomorrow.

But I have Middle Age Spread! When did that happen? Come to think of it, when did I reach middle age?

Woe.

LOL I have been throwing out pants/trousers today as well! It was interesting, what was laying around in the wardrobe and what I hadn't worn for years. So much space there now! It's not only that they were not fitting around the waist anymore, but I also hate when the legs are so tight I can hardly move. So they had to go. I filled three bags to give away. I also finally threw one jeans away which has totally faded in between where the legs rub together.

Yes. Comfortable wins over fashion always with me as well. It's just not worth not feeling comfortable in something. If it is comfortable AND fashionable, all the better.

I'm not. I am actually not interested in fashion at all. And I buy stuff which I can wear for years and not only one summer. I wear it till it falls apart.

Been there done that - several times. New meds caused some weight gain and now my new pants are tight. I'm not going back to my old size, I just won't (stamps feet).

Oh wow, can I relate. It's so disconcerting when suddenly nothing in the drawer fits. You don't feel any different, so what the heck happened? It's settled down for me now but a couple of years ago I'd have to get new clothes every season because last year's wouldn't fit. A slowing metabolism and a sedentary lifestyle really took its toll. Ugh.

*Hugs*

Welcome to the club, I joined ages ago. *laughs*

I'm flying to Florida next week and I purposely upgraded to first class so I'd have more hip room! Those economy seats are actually torture devices for anyone with any sort of hip, I swear.

Ugh that sucks. Sorry to hear that.

After I hurt my foot last year I packed on some weight (was heavy to begin with). I know I should lose the weight but part of me has no motivation to.

Good luck with your eye exam.

I so understand what you are going through.

The great spring early summer closet purge this weekend ended in a few favorites departing before their time and the knowledge that someone in my former size range is going to hit pay-dirt in the donation bin.

I'm approaching it as - don't dwell on the number on the tag as much as whether or not I feel cute/pretty/fashionable in it. It sounds like a cliche - but size is just a number; 0, 6, 12, or 24, doesn't matter as long as your clothes fit well and you have the confidence to pull them off. I am sure no matter what size you wear, you are gonna look great!

Lol. (Sorry - shouldn't laugh, but you did write it in a funny way!)
I have so many clothes in my wardrobe that I really should throw out, but every summer I think, 'this year I'm going to loose some weight.' Never happens, obviously!
I'm reasonably slim, and do a fair bit of sport - mainly to compensate for all the cake I eat. I have such a sweet tooth - I know it's bad for me, but I can't help myself! But any weight I do put on goes straight to my stomach. My flabby muffin-top is not a good look! (And I haven't even had children yet and I hear it only gets worse when you do!)

Oh I am so with you. My clothing choices started mysteriously shrinking two years ago (weirdly enough after a certain half-century mark had been passed) and I have still not found that dang alien artifact that caused this horrid transformation.

If I am able to identify and disable the device, I will be sure to share the intel.

Hang on if you washed them first they may have shrunk in the wash.

Gaaah I've been having the same problem lately. I just gave a away a huge bag of stuff from my closet, and the main reason was...things that no longer fit. As much as I tried to convince myself that it's just stuff I no longer like. ;) It's so depressing! XD;; In my mind, I've even been trying to work out more and eat better? But apparently not enough to combat, you know, getting older >_>

*sigh*

*sends moral support and hugs!* <3

Yeah, I've really been finding that as I get older, the normal things I tend to do that to me, feel like exercise - 15 minutes of walking to and from the bus, and a couple of exercise videos per week - are just not cutting it anymore! *sigh* I know I'm going to have to probably come up with a routine that's more strenuous, but... Ugh. I don't want to :P

Gardening does sound like good exercise though! Hopefully it'll start paying off for you! <3

Well, I would definitely enjoy some garden pictures! I can admire from afar, from my very small, completely garden-less city apartment. ^_~

And yeah, I know what you mean about posting pictures. >_> I have a bunch from various trips and such that I keep planning to post "someday". >_>

It sounds really awesome. Even if it is a little overgrown, atm. ^_~ I really don't know much about plants/gardening, but someday I'd like to think I'll have some property to start experimenting on! The idea of a pond sounds especially lovely~ <3
