Summary: Rory doesn’t really see himself as brave.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

A/N: My first drabble for dw100, and it came out at exactly 100 words first try! YAY!

Rory had never considered himself especially daring or brave, he’d always been more clown material than hero material. Some days he wasn’t sure how he’d ended up here, of all places, travelling through time and space with a madman in a blue box, but then he’d look at Amy, vibrant and vivacious, and it all made sense.

His Amy. He’d loved her since they were kids, had never doubted that he would always be hers, if she wanted him. He was here because this was where she was; he would go anywhere and dare anything, just to see her smile.

That is what a hero is.
Rory is in front of the line.

He will do any thing Amy wants or needs, without asking.
Rory just knows what to do.

Even if he's scared, he'll be there for Amy, whatever she needs, including waiting for the Pandorica to open. As long as they're together, they'll be fine.

(When ff.net allows it, this will be the first in the Doctor Who Drabble Files - I found a Doctor Who drabble community with weekly prompts, thanks to a friend, so I'll see if I can get a drabble a week out of that. Like I really needed ANOTHER challenge community to write for, lol! I just wrote 45 ficlets at fic_promptly for Contest Week. I still haven't posted everything from last time, back at the end of October!)

Hopefully I'll write more to add to it, otherwise it'll be the shortest 'collection' in history! The good thing about the Doctor Who drabble community is that all the challenges can be used, not just the most recent. So, there are over 500 prompts just waiting to be used...

Rory showed extraordinary loyalty and patience, that was such an awfully long wait.

I think there are over 500 Challenge prompts on dw100, and they're all open so I could, theoretically, write a drabble for each of them... That'll give me something to write in between other challenges!

Torchwood is still my drabble priority - that's my main fandom - but there's certainly room for some Doctor Who drabbles in between, even if I only do one a week for the new challenge.

I used to think I couldn't write drabbles, then I wrote one and here I am, two years and over 700 drabbles later, wondering why I ever say I can't do something when the truth is I hadn't really tried. I was the same about prompts. "I can't write for prompts!" Oh, really? I just wrote 45 ficlets for prompts in a week, guess I was wrong about that too, lol! So, instead of saying "I can't" I'm gonna start saying "Haven't tried that. Yet." *grins* Writing is interesting!

LOL! I know that feeling! I start something I think will be a few hundred words and it ends up a few thousand or something crazy. Still, as long as you enjoy it, that's what matters. I don't feel write if I don't write something ever day, even if it's just a drabble. All the challenge communities I belong to mean I'm never short of inspiration. They're fun too!

My WiPs have been left neglected due to too many fascinating prompts. I should dust them off and do some work on them, but whenever I have the time, I wind up writing drabbles instead *rolls eyes* I have self-discipline, it's just the wrong sort.

Writing's not an exact science, is it? Muses are fickle, plot-bunnies either multiply like rabbits or seem to hibernate (there's no happy medium with them), characters do whatever the hell they please no matter what you're trying to write and inspiration usually hits at exactly the wrong time. All part of the charm I suppose!

And yet, we still do it. I guess writers are a stubborn breed, determined and persistent. Might take us a while but we get there in the end, even if what we set out to write isn't what we end up with. It's an adventure =)

Same here, even when no one's reading. I write in several fandoms, but one in particular gets very little in the way of feedback. I'm one of only 3 people currently writing FAKE and one of those is very sporadic, but I have stories I want to tell, so I write for myself. If other people read and enjoy, that's great, if not, that's okay too.

It's all for the love of the shows, the stories and the writing. I think it's important for everyone to have something to be passionate about. I don't know where I'd be without the internet and writing, it keeps me going, gives me something to enjoy every day even when I don't have energy for much.

Aww, Rory is such a sweetheart. He reminds me a lot of Rhys. They'd both do anything for the women in their lives.
