Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
Parents. Everyone has them.
Gwen’s are loving, caring, devoted to their only child.
Jack’s are long gone, yet at the same time haven’t even been born yet. As much a paradox as he is.
Tosh seldom gets to see hers; part of the deal made by Jack in order to free her from the UNIT prison.
Ianto’s are dead. A father too demanding and a mother too weak to shield him from his father’s temper.
As for Owen, he doesn’t even remember his father, and wishes he could forget the look on his mother’s face the day he turned sixteen…

Date: 2013-05-10 10:01 am (UTC)Well, DID Ianto lie about his father being a master tailor? One theory is that it's the truth, and that Ianto's mother had an affair that resulted in Ianto. Ianto knows the truth but Rhi doesn't. It would explain Ianto's 'father' being mean to him if he suspected Ianto was not actually his son.
On the other hand, I always thought Ianto's 'My father was a Master Tailor' line was a bit of flirty banter, kind of a role-play thing and never meant to be taken seriously, but Gwen overheard (or watched the CCTV, being the nosy, prying person she is) and took Ianto seriously. Ianto might even have told Gwen himself, tired of her prying and nosiness, lying to her just to shut her up because he's not going to tell Gwen of all people anything personal. Gwen's a gossip, she'd tell everyone else.
