Doctor Who Drabble: Vacation
Feb. 25th, 2017 06:12 pmTitle: Vacation
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Donna, the Tenth Doctor.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 126: Vacation at
dw100.
Spoilers: Midnight.
Summary: The Doctor and Donna both vacation their own way.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters
Donna and the Doctor have completely different ideas of what a vacation should be. He wants to be off visiting the planet’s tourist attractions, but all Donna wants to do is relax, lounging by the pool, maybe going to the spa.
Travelling with the Doctor is fun but exhausting. The past few months she’s been run off her feet, literally. She hasn’t run so much since PE lessons at school. It’s alright for spaceboy, he’s got energy to burn, but Donna needs a break.
Let him chase across the plant looking at waterfalls if he wants. Sunbathing is much nicer.

Date: 2017-02-25 08:32 pm (UTC)I've never sunbathe either. I would just want a break from all the running.
Also keeping up with the Doctor's techno babble would be hard for me.
Donna would be good at note taking.

Date: 2017-02-25 11:50 pm (UTC)Techno babble would go write over my head, science isn't mu=y strong point!
I'm sure there'd be other things to do besides sunbathing.

Date: 2017-02-26 11:15 am (UTC)I learnt note taking in my TAFE course. There are tutorials on it on YouTube.
I have the same problem with a certain friend. People talking really fast puts me through the loop.
I guess I should just record these conversations and get back to them later.
Facials?

Date: 2017-02-26 12:13 pm (UTC)I can't listen fast enough to keep up with the way some people talk, lol!
I have a hard time holding a pen for long because of my arthritis, so I don't think I'll bother learning at this late date ;)

Date: 2017-02-26 04:59 pm (UTC)Oh yeah. Sightseeing and shops would be a very nice thing to do at a leisurely pace for a few hours.
Best just press record to document what someone says. Otherwise...*shrugs*

Date: 2017-02-26 05:10 pm (UTC)I do that too. But some people don't like to repeat themselves.
I'll have a power nap afterwards. It's vacation time after all.

Date: 2017-02-26 05:48 pm (UTC)Tough. If people talk too fast they should be prepared to repeat themselves, unless they like being misunderstood.

Date: 2017-02-27 11:53 am (UTC)I'd read or listen to some music.
From my experience, I have been on the receiving end of impatient people who are suppose to be in the customer service industry.
It's annoying that I can't live up to their expectations. They assume I'm not listening.

Date: 2017-02-27 01:52 pm (UTC)It's bad for business too. Training staff is required. Your not just buying a product. Your experiencing a company's service. Here I go in business mode.:)
I was also referring to some teachers who get impatient with students. They will praise the smart ones of course since it's less effort for them to deal with. There is an obvious reason for that.

Date: 2017-03-01 11:48 pm (UTC)I think sometimes students have to know how to handle a teachers temperament. It's harder if your still a kid though.
I got misunderstood as a lost cause.
One of my former classmates was told by a teacher they should leave the course. She stuck with it and showed the teacher they were wrong.
