Title: A Charming Woman

Summary: From child to woman in the space of a few minutes; the Doctor is flummoxed.

As a young girl, Reinette was innocent, gentle, full of curiosity and wonder. As a grown woman, she’s lovely, gracious, charming, but still as curious as ever, though now with a quick wit and sharp intellect to go with her other attributes.


The seemingly sudden transformation from child to woman, at least from the Doctor’s perspective, is unsettling although it probably shouldn’t be. It’s not the first time he’s met the same person at different stages of their lives, but the period between meetings is usually longer than a few minutes.


Time here has been accelerated. It’s really rather confounding.

The actors were in a relationship for two years because of it.

I wish the Doctor had been so smug about the kiss in front of Rose instead of just saying it out loud to a random person.

As a DT fangirl, I have no interest in seeing a man I have a crush on kissing some other woman/women multiple times!!!. Or is that just me?

I don't know how it is for the children who watch this program when they see stuff like this.

The kissing is put in for the adults, most kids probably hate it, and I could do without it because I watch for the sci-fi and action, not for snogging scenes.

I don't mind seeing my crushes kiss other women, but I prefer them kissing other men, it makes my slashy little heart happy ;)

Besides which, all my crushes are way younger than me, so I'm a dirty old woman anyway, lol!

I'm not hot on the lip action. Flirting is fine. I watch the show for the adventure.

I guess you didn't mind Minnie pinching the Doctor's butt?. It's the banter between a mature women and the Doctor thats more interesting to me.

I wouldn't pass a younger man if his nice enough but they usually loose interest once they learn how old I'am. The curse of youthful looks.:D

People always used to think I was younger than I am. I think I look closer to my age now, but people still seem to think I'm younger.

Banter is definitely more fun.

Still looking younger than you look as you get older can't be a bad thing. I still have to show my ID card though.

I prefer Elevens reaction to being kiss. Much funnier. Especially when the war Doctor asked him if it was a common thing now.

Everything Matt did made me laugh, he was such a fun Doctor.

Yes, it is nice at my age but I remember how frustrating it was when I was young and people didn't want to serve me in pubs or let me in to see 18-rated films, even though I was easily old enough. You'll reach a point when it becomes a good thing instead of an annoyance =)

Some people think I look 18 or early 20's now. It really is annoying when you want to be taken seriously as an adult.

Being mistaken for a kid over the phone really put me over the edge!:D

I agree, it's so hard when people won't take you seriously. I had to deal with that for years. It's only now I have a few wrinkles that people are starting to listen.

But I blame the phones because this is a common occurrence for a lot of adults that I've discussed this issue with.

I got my first signs of ageing this year. A grey hair!

Wow! Are you dark-haired? I'm sort of dark blonde so if I have any grey hairs, i can't see them. Mum's hair didn't fade to white until she was well into her 70s.

Oh, how embarrassing! But it does seem to be a phone problem. I once got a phone call, and I thought it was my uncle in Wales, but it turned out to be my aunt who lived locally. she had a cold, but over the phone she really sounded like my uncle. she wasn't too pleased. Lol!

I have black/browish hair. I use to dye my hair in my teens for fun, now I might need to do it to look young!.:D

LOL! Phones never seem to transmit voices accurately.

Yeah, must be genetic, I don't think my older sister, whose hair is a lighter blonde than mine, is showing any grey either.

My aunt didn't have all that much of a sense of humour, unfortunately.

My mobile phone does almost everything except good sound. I end up yelling into my phone if the person on the other end can't hear me.

Do women get a sophisticated name when they start to get grey hair?

Men get called "silver fox"!

Well, not any more, she passed years ago. I just had a chat with her husband, my uncle though, he phoned me a little while ago, that was nice, we had a laugh. Happily he's all there mentally. Maybe because he has two young grandchildren to keep him young.

I have the most basic mobile possible because I can barely use that, never mind anything more advanced, lol!

I don't think so, men who turn grey are seen as sexy, but women are expected to die their hair so they look younger. Well, screw that, I'm growing old naturally! What you see is what you get.

At least you can still have that connection with your uncle.

My grandmother had to live in a hectic environment because some of my relatives didn't fly the nest but instead overan it.

I wish I could have done more at the time before her passing.:(

I may go back to a basic phone. I'm trying to imagine not using the Internet with it!.:D

There is a double standard. Although some women can look angelic. I wish I had that skill of gift.

It just looks like I have silver tinsel stuck in my black hair.:)

There are always regrets and wishing we'd been able to do more, I guess that's part of being human.

Being able to access the internet through your phone would be hard to give up, I think.

Life experiences shape who we are but sometimes at a cost.

Once you let technology into your life, it is hard to get rid of it. But if it isn't working properly then its even more stressful.

I just want a phone to do what it was created for, to make and receive calls properly. Why is that so hard?

Sometimes gender issues suck, like men can be assertive but if a woman does it she is bitchy!*sarcasm*

And of course it's the men who create all these double standards in the first place *rolls eyes* Until we get rid of the double standards there will never be true equality.

Oh, that's the truth, and the cost can be high for the lessons we learn from life =(

These days most of us would be lost without our gadgets, but yes, having a phone that actually does what it's meant to is the most important thing. Everything else is just a bonus.
