FAKE Double Drabble: Rain Wave

A/N: This one’s a double drabble.





There’s water everywhere; it’s raining so hard that the streets are awash and people look like they’re paddling rather than walking. The only sensible footwear in weather like this is rain boots, but they only help until that moment when a bus goes past too fast and sends a tidal wave over you that drenches you nearly to the hips and fills your boots with icy water. They’re made to keep the rain out, but they’re just as effective at keeping it in.


Dee curses, sloshing his way towards the nearest building, where he uses the wall to steady himself while he pulls off one boot and empties it, then does the same with the other.


Great. Now his socks and pants legs are sodden, his feet are cold, and the insides of his boots feel clammy and disgusting. It doesn’t help that Ryo is about busting a gut laughing at him. The least he could do is try to act sympathetic.


“You just wait until it happens to you!” Dee growls, offended by his partner’s hilarity. “Then we’ll see who has the last laugh!”


Ryo just grins as he pours water from his own boots. “It got me first.”

They're both soggy, but Ryo is taking it better than Dee. I'm sure he can find a way to cheer Dee up though ;)

It's the difference in reactions, Ryo finds the whole thing hilarious, Dee just feels wet and fed up. I'm sure Ryo feels equally wet and uncomfortable but he's able to see the funny side. Hopefully they can go home now and dry each other off after a nice, hot shower.

Yeah, Dee may be madder than a wet hen now (he was just asking for me to say that, lol), but I'm sure he'll be nice and cozy soon enough. :)

We don't get much American Football here, or not at times I can watch (plus it's mostly on Sky TV now, which I can't afford). Only game I've seem this season and blasted Detroit won =( I prefer the Vikes. Dog how would have been more relaxing, but it was a good game despite the wrong team winning.

Ryo knows how to keep Dee sweet.

I'm not your average Brit, it's true. I also loathe soap operas and reality TV (the staples of British television), and most British so-called comedians, love Harley Davidson motorcycles and the big American cars, and prefer the Monkees over the Beatles.

I never fitted in at school because of my love of country music rather than teen pop, and the fact that I took ballroom dancing lessons, but I refused point blank to follow the crowd and I still like what I like no matter what anyone else thinks. There are a lot of things I like about being who I am.

I've been a fan of American Football since it was first shown over here in 1984, I just wish I got to see more than I do these days. I miss it.

Cool; following the crowd is for brainless lemmings. :) Which is alarmingly popular, these days. I always did things my own way, and got bullied for it. But I'd rather be faithful to myself than to be whatever the hell society expects. Why should society expect things of me, when I wasn't expected, to begin with?

We should all be ourselves and not give in to the pressures put upon everyone to conform. Trying to be what we're not makes people deeply unhappy. I got bullied too, but it didn't change anything. I still liked what I liked and not what other people said I should like. there's a freedom to being who you are and not letting yourself be forced into a category that doesn't fit. In a world of square and round pegs being forced into holes of the opposite shape, I'm the triangle that doesn't fit anywhere, no matter how hard people try to jam me into any available hole... And that sounds way dirtier than I meant it to o_O (Damnit, Dee, stop laughing!)

Yay, I've made a note, I'll hopefully get a Christmas fic written =)

Now to figure out what to do for the fan_flashworks 'Villain' challenge. I'm stumped, too many villains!

I toyed with doing a Thanksgiving one (which I know wouldn't have made too much sense, but I've kinda wanted to for a couple years), but yesterday was so busy.

OMG, no kidding! So many villains, so little time...and they all seem to love the attention.

I can't even pick a fandom at the moment, never mind a villain, and I only have a few more days to get something written! At this rate, all I'll end up with is a drabble *sigh* I think I wore out my creativity earlier this month with all the writing I was doing, and now my brain cells are going "Nope, we demand a rest!"

Maybe you'll get a Thanksgiving fic done next year.

Yeah, run 'em ragged, and they might go on strike. I wish mine would run me ragged, lol.

I'll try to remember to make a note of it; most of it is in my mind, so I'll probably write it later, and just sit on it until next November.
