Summary: As far as Ianto’s concerned, Little Jack Horner has a lot to answer for.

Ianto had been busy in the kitchen, baking for Christmas, when a call came through from Tosh. She needed something from the archives but couldn’t find it. Taking off his apron, he hurried over to the Hub.


When he got back an hour later, he headed straight for the kitchen, hoping certain delicacies would be cool enough for freezing, but stopped dead at the sight before him. His pristine plum pie was full of holes.


“Jack! What on earth are you doing?”


Jack held up his thumb. “Doesn’t work. I kept sticking it in, but I didn’t get a plum.”

Haha, I sure hope I'm not evil! o.O I sometimes wonder what the hell it says about me that I write the mean/nasty/hurty ones better than the fluffy ones. Maybe you're right; we must somehow gravitate to the ones we're nothing like--or else they're drawn to us. O.O

When he thinks about it, Jack realises he has already pulled a plum - Ianto, who will no doubt bake another pie. He realises Jack doesn't have the cultural background to interpret the rhyme properly.

And Jack gets to eat all the first pie himself because nobody else wants it now Jack's thumb has been in it, lol!

Sorry, I meant to include the nursery rhyme or a link, but I forgot. It's one of those things I learned as a kid and never forgot, so when I saw the thumb prompt, and this being Jack, albeit not the one in the rhyme, I had to run with the idea.

Here's the Rhyme (nonsense of course, as most nursery rhymes are).

Little Jack Horner
Sat in the corner,
Eating a Christmas pie;
He put in his thumb,
And pulled out a plum,
And said 'What a good boy am I!
