Drabble: Wild Ride
Oct. 9th, 2016 04:01 pmTitle: Wild Ride
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Jack, Ianto, Myfanwy.
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 416: Grip at
tw100.
Spoilers: Fragments.
Summary: Catching a Pterodactyl is not an exact science.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to go, Jack thought as he clung to the Pterodactyl’s leg, high above the warehouse floor. He’d meant to inject it while it was on the ground, but when it launched itself into the air, he’d reacted automatically, grabbing on to keep it from getting away. It was one hell of a wild ride!
On the bright side, he’d managed to administer the tranquillizer, despite the awkward angle and only having one hand to work with.
On the down side, he was fast losing his grip.
Falling into Jones’s arms was an unexpected bonus.

Date: 2016-10-10 04:05 am (UTC)In Jacks case he would take the risk just because he will survive it.
I would at least take precautions like a parachute.:D

Date: 2016-10-10 10:11 am (UTC)Jack can survive anything, but Ianto didn't know that. Trying to catch a falling person isn't a good idea, Ianto could have been hurt. Not that he would have thought about that - he needed Jack as his way in to Torchwood.

I did think it odd for Jack not to think how it would look from Iantos perspective.
I remember it was Owen and Tosh that Jack encourage to join the rebuilt Torchwood.
Ianto, he tried to brush off at first. He couldn't attempt use the retcon drug like with Gwen because Ianto had already worked for the old Torchwood.

Date: 2016-10-11 10:14 am (UTC)How come Jack didn't consider retraining Ianto since it wasn't like the latter ran the old Torchwood?
Maybe Jack thought it was too risky or trusted his instincts because Ianto did have a secret agenda?
Living in the moment. How impulsive!.:)

Date: 2016-10-11 08:13 pm (UTC)Jack just felt everyone at TW 1 was tainted by One's policies - if it's alien,it's ours, and The Doctor is public enemy number one. It would have been hard to trust anyone from there, but in the end his attraction to Ianto overruled his caution.
Thank you!
