Summary: Looks like Ianto’s day off is going to be cancelled due to an emergency.

It wasn’t often that Ianto had the luxury of a long lie-in, so he was less that pleased to be woken by his phone at just after eight thirty on his first day off in over a month. Unsurprisingly, it was Jack.


“What is so important that you had to wake me, Jack? I was having a very nice dream.”


Jack didn’t waste time on preliminaries. “Owen’s twelve!”


“Yes, Jack, everyone knows Owen has the mental age of a pre-teen. That’s hardly news.”


“No, I mean he’s been de-aged, he’s literally twelve years old!”


Ianto groaned. “Lord help us all!”

I could imagine Gwens reaction aka "big eyes dart side to side" reaction.

They could always call for a stand in medic in the mean time. Torchwood wasn't Torchwood without Owens slightly snarky remarks though.

They could call Martha in until Owen is grown up again, but they do need Owen's snark factor.

Gwen probably had that stupid goldfish look, eyes and mouth wide open!

That's what I was thinking. Not sure if her being with UNIT compromises things.

I doubt it would be a problem. She's worked with Torchwood before, more than once - Reset, and the radio play Lost Souls.

Gwen's eyes can't act any better than she can!

I thought it was because RTD wanted to. Jack was suppose to entice Martha & Mickey to join Torchwood and obviously that never eventuated.

I figured Martha visited Jack on the down low. Wouldn't UNIT have rules?

Well if the radio play says so then I guess not. *shrugs shoulders*

Never mind her Gwens heart, her eyes were always taking center stage.

In Lost Souls, Martha called Torchwood in to work with UNIT. They probably do have rules, but the two organisations would have to work together at times, and liase with each other in certain situations.

I kept waiting for Gwen's eyes to pop right out of their sockets, lol!

The only issue would be agreeing what strategy to use like they usually do in situations like these.

Eve myles tends to work more on her facial expressions when shes trying to be dramatic.

The problem is. exaggerated facial expressions do not make for a good or believable performance. It's soap-opera acting, all the waving of arms and shouting, and big eyes. She needs to dial it way back. GDL can do so much more with a simple eyebrow raise than Eve can do with bulging eyes and flailing arms.

I'm sure UNIT and Torchwood have a lot of arguments about strategy!

She's a soap actress who should've stayed in soaps. She used practically the same expression for every emotion, so of course the audience had no real idea of what she was feeling unless she said something *rolls eyes* Even the it wasn't always clear because of her histrionics and ranting.

Apparently Eve had a keen interest in boxing but gave it up after injuring herself. No wonder Gwen punches a lot.

We as an audience were suppose to identify with her but I didn't.

I don't know anyone who identified with Gwen.

Not a boxing fan myself, but Gwen didn't seem like a good fighter to me. Probably safer for everyone that she gave up boxing.

Gwen didn't have a profile you would expect from a competent leading lady.

She would hell and hoped for the best I guess. Eve did a scene in Broadchurch series 2 where she turns a kitchen upside down (not literally). She may get stereotyped.

If she had done boxing, then we could have had someone else playing Gwen instead but then RTD would still be writing the script.

True, whoever played Gwen, the scripts would still suck. I won't watch anything Eve Myles is in now because I just get so annoyed. I once saw an interview on breakfast TV, it was Eve and Gareth being interviewed, and Eve hogged all the questions even when the interviewer was asking Gareth. Poor Gareth couldn't get a word in edgewise.

I've only seen John Barrowman related interviews. Sounds like I didn't miss much.

I watched Broadchurch only for David and Olivia and was hoping Eve would reframe from chucking a fit but no.

She's stereotyped herself with her one-note acting. GDL and JB have had far more varied roles, they can handle the wider acting range that's required.

Adult Owen is snarky enough. Can just imagine a 12 year old. Just wave some coffee under his nose to kick start the ageing process. Get Gwen to look after him, that would kill the affair stone dead. Better yet, de-age Gwen. Jack would be put off any thoughts, not that he'd cheat on Ianto.

De-aged Gwen would be even worse tan Owen! Temper tantrums left, right, and centre!

Jack can shut young Owen in a cell while Tosh works on turning him adult again and Ianto repairs everything that Owen as managed to break.

They can always stick young Owen in a cell with pizza, a few cans of coke and a computer game, lol! Then Ianto can fix everything Owen's broken while Tosh works on fixing Owen.
