Title: Marriage Of Convenience
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Twelfth Doctor, River, King Hydroflax.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 084: Charade at
dw100.
Spoilers: The Husbands Of River Song.
Summary: It’s bad enough that River doesn’t recognise him, but finding she’s married someone else in his absence…
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.
It comes as something of a relief to realise that River’s ‘marriage’ to the monstrous and very untidy King Hydroflax is a sham, a charade, an act to keep her close to him until she figures out a way to get at the priceless diamond lodged in his brain.
Now that’s the River the Doctor knows, sneaky, unprincipled, larcenous, and attracted to shiny things. The universe isn’t about to implode after all; it just seemed like it might for a bit.
On the other hand, she’s talking about murdering someone… Perhaps he shouldn’t have left her alone for so long.

I hated learning all the menus at a short period of time, it was a lot of pressure. I prefer learning stuff at my own pace but that's part of having a job.
The shoes are sometimes impractical too. Some of the models fall over. That's a safety hazard.

I just don't want it badly enough to put myself through acting or modelling - even assuming anyone would want me for that kind of work, which they wouldn't.

Date: 2016-10-04 07:51 am (UTC)Some actors that work a lot look tried because it can get exhausting. I hate when the media gives them a hard time about not looking good. Give them a break!
Some people are hand models?

Date: 2016-10-04 10:06 am (UTC)The media has unrealistic expectations of actors and other people in professions that keep them in the public eye. They're still just people, they get tired, they get ill, they have bad days, they won't always look perfect. I wish the paparazzi would stop creeping about trying to get photos of the stars looking less than their best. Give them their privacy, for heaven's sake! There should be rules about where and when people can take photographs of famous people without their permission. The rest of the time, they should have to ask first and accept it if they're told 'No'. (One of my pet peeves, as I'm sure you can tell, lol!)

Wow. You know your stuff.:)
They go on about how old actresses look if there not some perky twenty-something. I notice they did that with CT. She can be glam when she wants too. I just wished they could be more creative if they want to write a story.*eyeroll*

Apparently being too "hot" can limit an actors choice of roles if they want to play an "average" person.
I wish I could be as articulate like you when it comes to ranting.:D

Character actors, the ordinary looking actors, are often more interesting than the big stars and get more diverse roles.

Some people have that charm and it helps that romantic and non-romantic leads have real chemistry together than just "looking good" as a couple etc.
Although good actors tend to hide any ill feelings for the sake of their work.;)
Diversity is good because some people can not relate to stories about a pretty young blonde who is in a love triangle.
I can't relate to most romantic comedies. That's why I don't really watch those kinds of movies. Maybe I can relate to the socially awkward bit.

Date: 2016-10-06 09:59 am (UTC)Yes, good actors can show the emotions they need for the role and hide their real feelings, though if there's chemistry between two actors everything works so much better and more believably. =)

Date: 2016-10-07 08:13 am (UTC)I think I've become a realist and don't believe in all that lovey dovey stuff unless the plot or the characters are really good.
I watch SF for how the people cope with the extraordinary situations that they have to face.
I find it disappointing when actors fall in love on set because that means it wasn't them really acting.:D
That probably sounds bad. I guess you can't always plan these things.*shrugs shoulders*

Date: 2016-10-07 10:54 am (UTC)Mostly I watch Sci-Fi just for the adventure and excitement, and to see what extraordinary creatures and situations the writers can come up with. I like to be entertained. I prefer if there's some humour in there as well as the excitement, but I watch serious things too occasionally. I mean, I like Criminal Minds and that's pretty grim.

Date: 2016-10-08 12:23 pm (UTC)I guess if the chemistry is that good the lines can get blurred. I doubt its romantic doing love scenes in front of a camera with all the crew watching though.
Of course a good script, with the right balance of serious and funny moments make for great viewing.
I use to watch Criminal Minds but lost track of it. I wish I had a jet.:)

You're never been on a plane?!*surprised*
Believe me, your not missing out on much. Thats why I want a jet so I can get to my destination quicker.:D
