Summary: Another monster comes through the rift…

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: More the end of a monster than a monster at the end.

 

 

 

The rift alert indicated something big - and from the readings, very nasty if Jack was any judge. The team geared up appropriately and headed for the site of the incursion, ready to deal with the monster.

 

On arrival, they leapt from the SUV, weapons at the ready, only to stop and stare.

 

“As monsters go, that’s a bit of an anticlimax,” Ianto stated.

 

Tosh checked her readings and shrugged. “I guess even something that well armoured doesn’t handle being ejected from the rift fifty feet above ground level too well.”

 

“It’s pancaked,” Owen agreed. “Better break out the shovels.”

Oops! Well, that saved the team some subduing/restraining/killing. Now all that's left is the clean up. (And I bet I know who gets to do that!)

Saved any poor random members of the public, too - assuming there was no one standing where the alien landed!

Torchwood have to catch a break sometimes, there must be times when whatever comes though the rift is neutralised by its trip!

I bet this happens a lot. It does seem odd that the rift would just set aliens down carefully when they come through.

OT - are you have any problems getting your friends' page to load?

Yeah, that's what I thought. The rift doesn't have a set place to open, so why would it always have to open at ground level?

LJ is giving me a lot of trouble tonight, loading all different pages. It takes a long time and I keep getting error messages.

Yeah, but it was quick. It would have been dangerous if it had survived to wander the streets of Cardiff and the team would have had to find a way to kill it anyway, so it's probably for the best and the alien suffered less this way.

It was probably a quicker end for the monster than if the team had to battle it, so I guess the ift was merciful in that respect. It's always sad when an alien, however dangerous, loses its life by ending up on earth, unless it showed up here deliberately with plans for conquest. This one was just an unfortunate victim of the rift, though the team are breathing a collective sigh of relief - it really did look formidable, even after its crash landing. they wouldn't want to meet it alive!
