Fic Of The Week - Week Fifty Four
Jan. 7th, 2013 01:16 pmWelcome to 2013 and the first week of Fic of the Week's second year! I'm not going back to Week One though, that would be too confusing.
Still on short fics because I still don't have as much time for reading as I'd like. Also, since LJ is still messing some of us about a bit, I'm starting with a fic (or actually two) on ff.net.
Concrete Coloured Sky is a one-shot with a 5 part sequel by deetatarant , who comes up with some interesting stories, and was originally posted in September 2008. It's set after the episode Adam and I'm not at all sure that it will have a happy ending, so be warned.
Summary: Ianto ponders his missing time.

Concrete Coloured Sky Part 2 is here
As always, happy reading (or in this case, possibly not happy but at least interesting!)

Date: 2013-01-07 04:59 pm (UTC)Thanks for linking to a story off-site. I keep getting "Vanish Errors" whenever I try to do anything within LJ. Wonder what's going on NOW?!?

Date: 2013-01-07 05:26 pm (UTC)I'm still getting error messages from time to time and LJ is running slow, so I figured an off-LJ fic would be a good idea this week.

Date: 2013-01-10 10:47 pm (UTC)Sorry I have been gone for so long! I know you must think I don't want to talk to you anymore. Some friend I am! I miss posting to you; life has just been so difficult and very busy, my usual excuses.
How are you doing?
I got your Christmas card and I meant to thank you a long time ago. It is so sweet! I couldn't decide on elephants as I remember, so you stitched me two on my card. So adorable. Thank you! :D
The birthday card is just lovely too! My favorite shade of pink with the letter D. for Debbie of course. Oh and I love the hearts and the butterflies on it. You are quite talented....and don't be sorry about it being late. It was worth the wait + I don't feel like a very good friend anyway. I want to get back to writing to everyone again. So hard for me and I read there are new problems on LJ again?...oh great! NOT.
I have been seeing a physical therapist and at first, I would have almost no pain after I saw her for a few hours, then the pain would come back. She has taught me just regular stretching exercising for home. She massaged my legs the first day and it felt like she was killing me, but she actually was not appling much pressure at all. I had no idea my thigh muscles were all tensed up. My legs actually turned red where she massaged them! It seems I have been slowly over a year or more been tensing myself up and didn't know it. I am listning to a relaxation application on my phone, using my headphones every day, doing deep breathing, and other stuff to try to relax. I have seen her now once a week for 5 weeks. Three more weeks to go, but I am not really much better. :(
I had to stop one med that was really helping to numb the pain because it gave me the worst dry-mouth and mouth ulcers. I couldn't eat. The Gabapentin, I am taking now helps some but not enough. It is actually helping my bipolar disorder more, so I am staying on it and increasing it through my Psychiatrist.
Next I am going to see a specialist at the Vanderbuilt campus, Dr. Jeff Andrews who I wanted to see last year, but oouldn't because of my hives. We had to figure that one out first. I am doing better on the meds my doctor is giving me for that. I still wake up with a few, but no where near as bad as it used to be and I have not had any swelling in a long time.
I hope you are doing ok. Sorry to talk on your LJ again, I just wanted to tell you how things were going and I miss you.
Love Deb.

Date: 2013-01-11 12:00 am (UTC)So pleased you liked your cards. I was especially happy with the way the Christmas card turned out. I took photos of it, lol!
Also really glad to hear some things are improving for you. Even if the physical therapy hasn't helped much in the way of relieving pain, at least it's getting rid of a lot of built up tension which is bound to help you in the long run. I should probably do some kind of relaxation too, maybe I should add that to my resolutions for this year. You're making progress, so that's great. Good luck with the new specialist!
Yeah, LJ has been not so good recently. I couldn't do my New Year post until the 3rd because LJ was more or less down over new year. It's still slow at times but better than it was.
Here's hoping we both have a much better year this year *hug* Love ya always! ♥

Date: 2013-01-17 04:21 am (UTC)I "loved" the elephant Christmas card! So adorable! I need to have it framed and hung up somewhere. So pretty. :D
Yes things are slowly improving, but at least I can tell now. For so long, it felt like all I was doing was "waiting" until the next appointment, not knowing if this doc would help or we would have to move on to someone else.
I do think the physical therapist has helped me some. Yes, the relaxation techniques were and are very much needed if I am ever going to get well. Plus, she has taught me a lot of things and given me helpful advice with things I can do to "hopefully" relax my pelvic floor at home and in time maybe the pain will lessen or even better, be gone.
Oh, and she told me to get a donut pillow of some kind. I tried out a few round ones and actually I didn't like them. I ended up ordering one that is square, foam with a cut-out down the whole middle so my thighs take most of my weight and instead of my sore bits. lol! It is has a blue cover on it that can be washed when it needs it. I take the thing almost everywhere, especially if I know I will be sitting a long time. It is about the size of some sofa pillows, not real small, not huge, so I can carry it most places. No one has asked me about it yet. lol! Hope they don't.
Let me know how you are doing too sometimes if you feel up to it.
love, long lost Deb.*

Date: 2013-01-17 12:57 pm (UTC)Still writing, but mostly drabbles at the moment, only one longer fic, A Very Nosy Christmas. I am planning a longer version of my recent Jack Rabbit drabbles, because it's fun turning Jack into a rabbit, but I haven't started it yet.
The weather is getting me down - it's very cold and we've had snow so even if I felt up to it, I can't go anywhere. It's too slippery and I can't afford to fall and hurt myself. The house is cold even with the heating turned up. Amazingly, the cold seems to have made my hot flushes give up the last couple of days. Before the cold spell, I was constantly putting extra clothes on because I was chilly, then taking them off again because I was roasting five minutes later. I couldn't get to a comfortable temperature, I was either cold or roasting. Right now, I seem to be stuck on 'Bloody Freezing' and for the first time ever I'm longing for a hot flush, lol!
*hugs tight* Keep up all your excercises and I'm sure you'll really notice the difference soon! Love ya always, frozen Jean XXX
