Summary: Tosh is offered the chance to make a new start.

Trying to save her mother had cost Tosh her life; not in the literal sense, but in every way that mattered. Yet even locked away in that dank little cell with only her thoughts for company, she still couldn’t regret what she’d done.

 

Then he came, so vibrantly full of life he was dazzling. He made her an offer – five years of service under his command in return for her freedom. Her criminal record would be erased.

 

There was only one answer she could give. Walking from the UNIT prison beside him, she felt as if she were being reborn.

The End (Or really, The Beginning, for Tosh!)

Yes, when I saw the prompt there were just so many points in canon that it could be used. I decided to avoid the obvious Exit Wounds one though as I still don't like to accept Tosh and Owen's deaths, and I avoid CoE like the plague anyway, but that still left a lot to choose from.

I agree, I don't believe that Jack ever regretted hiring Tosh. He knew she was brilliant and believed in her completely. We saw how proud he was of her, she was very special to him.

Lovely drabble! Poor Tosh really got a raw deal, what with being blackmailed, set up, and then locked away in that hell. I can well believe she didn't regret her actions, she's that strong and brave. But thank goodness Jack came along. She and Torchwood are the better for it. :)

Tosh was much stronger than she looked, and fiercely protective of her family. UNIT locked her away, but Jack saw how amazing she could be and gave her the chasnce to prove it. Tosh loved Jack for that, and he was immensely proud of her. He was her mentor and she would have done anything he asked but she didn't hero-worship him.

Thank you, yes, I'm doing well - four drabbles posted and another one to post. I've finally found my fluffiness again, so I've written a fluffy non-canon drabble just to round things off. I'll post it tomorrow. Five drabbles written, only 95 to go!

Tosh was so strong, she didn't need to be rescued, but it's a good thing Jack came along because Torchwood needed her, and it was a great new beginning foor her.

Tosh was always very strong, but I think she did need rescuing - she wasn't getting out of that UNIT prison any other way and her briliance was going to waste. Jack could see what she was worth though, he knew she could be amazing if given the chance and because of that, he found a way to get UNIT to hand her over. That's one thing I'm sure Jack never regretted.

Me too. Jack gave several people a chance to start over and rebuild their lives, perhaps because the Doctor did the same for him.
