Summary: Jack deserves to be punished, but Ianto’s threat isn’t having the desired effect.

Jack was grinning like the cat who’d got the cream when the rest of the team arrived for work one rainy Cardiff day.

Owen eyed him suspiciously. “What’s got you lookin’ so happy on such a dismal day? Or is this one of those times I’m goin’ to regret askin’?”

“I broke Ianto’s houseplant and replaced it without telling him,” Jack beamed. “He’s promised to spank me for it! I believe his exact words were, ‘You just wait until tonight; I’ll spank you until you can’t sit down for a week’.”

Owen blanched. “Right, I’ll just forget I asked. I really did not need to know that.”

Handing Owen his coffee, Ianto gave a put-upon sigh. “Jack, how many times do I have to tell you? That was a threat, not a promise.” He smiled ruefully at Owen. “It’s really difficult to punish someone who enjoys it so much. It ends up being more like a reward.”

“Why don’t you just withhold sex like a normal person?”

Ianto looked horrified at the thought. “Are you out of your mind? I only want to punish Jack, not myself!”

“He can’t be that good,” Owen scoffed.

“Trust me, you have no idea.”

Love your icon - I just got season 1 on DVD but I haven't had time to watch it yet. Memories of childhood, Illya was one my my first crushes, along with Mr Spock, and I watched everything with David McCallum in for years. I still love him as Ducky =)

I've been a MFU fan for nearly four decades now and it still hasn't cooled off yet. :D I've loved other shows, but not like MFU or David McCallum . :D

I have other favourite shows though, It's a long time since I've watched MFU except for the occasional one of the movies since the series hasn't been repeated much on TV here in England. I've got some of the old novels though and I've read them all several times. David is still gorgeous to my eyes ;)

I not familiar with the sites for other fandoms. I got connected to the internet purely to read Torchwood fanfic, only ever intending to read it but ending up writing that and now several other fandowms. But I'm still mostly a member of communities for Torchwood, Doctor who, and my second fandom, FAKE. I'll have to take a look over at MFU_Canteen. It's funny how conversations can stray completely away from the subject sites are set up for, but I'm in the habit of having long, rambling conversations with people online, covering multiple subjects. It's fun =)

I got hooked into the 'net for school (I was taking a critical thinking class on line). The a friend convinced me that I needed to check out LJ and the MFU community here. One thing led to another and that's all she wrote. :D

That's why I set up the Canteen, so people would have a place to not just talk about MFU, but whatever else they wanted in a safe and non-judgmental environment. There are some crazy discussions there now.

Sounds like fun! I'll try to check it out when I can find the time. I'm still trying to get a bit more writing done for Challenge Week at fic_promptly on Dreamwidth. Writing takes up a scary amount of my time, I belong to way too many challenge communities.

I didn't even know fanfiction was a thing until a penfriend sent me some Torchwood fanfics she'd printed out for me. I got completely addicted to it, wanted to read more, so I took the plunge despite my limited computer skills and got connected. Now I have no idea what I did with my days before. I'm certainly kept busy now!

That's me as well. I try to limit my challenges to just a couple at a time. otherwise, it cuts into my fun writing time.

I've been into fanfic for as long as I can remember. Started with Star Trek, then went to Star Wars for a short time, then settled on MFU. I totally agree with not knowing what I did before finding LJ. I must have had so much free time.

All my life I thought I must be a bit weird for making up stories in my head about my favourite TV and n=book characters, then I find that thousands of people do the same thing and write their stories down to share... I feel like I've found my place and I'm loving it =)

I use the challenges to inspire me, but it's a job juggling that at times.

Not weird at all. I've been doing it since about six. It took me into journalism and that was fun for a while, but when I got a chance to do theatre full time, I jumped ship. I've written professionally, but fan fic is much more fun and entertaining... if only it paid. :P

I'd love to not have to work full time, but we like to travel, so there's the catch. Oh well, things always seem to get done, one way or the other. And this IS supposed to be fun, after all. :D

Fun, yes, must remember that... I'm a bit OCD, so I get panicky if I miss a challenge, which I know is dumb but my brain keeps insisting that I MUST complete all challenges. I need to get a more relaxed attitude.

I was so nervous when I posted my first silly little Torchwood ficlet, but people liked it so I kept writing, eventually popping my head into a few other fandoms. I love playing with characters who already exist, somehow it's just more fun than creating my own, although I have a few OCs dotted around my fics. I can't see myself writing professionally in any capacity though, fanfic is just more fun.

Hey, I'm a type A, so it takes a steady hand to keep me from panicking and forgetting the fun aspect as well.

I think it would be harder and more nerve racking now because people don't comment as much anymore. I get a lot of favourites over on ff.net and kudos on AO3, but actual comments are much rarer and when they do come, most of them don't say much.

I've never been one to beg for comments, I'm writing for myself and anyone who cares to read, because it's something I enjoy doing, but it would be nice sometimes to hear what people do and don't like about various stories. The art of leaving feedback seems to be dying.

I know what you mean - the comments are nice, but they aren't what keeps me going. I write for the pure pleasure of it and because it's something I've always done.

I always leave a comment on something I read, it only seems right.

Same here, and I try to say what I particularly liked rather than just saying good fic or something. I also always reply to all comments and reviews because it's only fair.

Same with me, even if it's just thank you. So many writers don't even do that and I just stop commenting after a while.

Some people I know don't have much time to spare for replying to all my comments so I still comment on their work, but otherwise I eventually stop commenting, but I still comment on old fics where journals aren't being updated because you never know if the writers might still be around.

You are better than me. There are some who I try really hard to comment on because no one else does. I feel badly for them and try to make sure I leave a few words of encouragement. it's only right.

Well, they're friends of mine so I understand.

Encouragement is good.

One time though, I commented on the first couple of chapters of an old fic and the writer promptly took the whole fic down. Never replied to my comments or anything. That was just rude.

That is an odd reaction. perhaps they had taken down other stuff, but missed this one. That's a little still strange not to have at least explained her/his actions.

If they didn't want people reading it, why was it there? There were plenty of other fics too, so I don't understand the reaction, especially as I left comments saying how much I was enjoying it. I don't understand some people. Every other time I've commented on an older fic and the writer has responded, they've been delighted That someone's still reading. =/

They might have pulled everything else and missed that. I remember one of my favorite writers pulling her stuff because she was afraid that her work would discover her very hot and steamy slash and she would be fired. it's a crazy world out there and people do extreme things to protect themselves from backlash.

Perhaps, but the journal still hosted a lot of other fics and as far as I could see,the writer was still writing. The one I was reading wasn't steamy so it's doubtful that was their concern. It just left me baffled.

It's very sad that people have to fear backlash from writing.
