Fic Of The Week - Week Forty Nine

Bearing in mind that Christmas is fast approaching and I don't have a lot of free time, I'm going to just rec one short fic each week until the New Year, with the possibility of two for Christmas week. (There are several Christmassy-themed fics under consideration, so I'll probably make my decision at the last minute).

For this week, it's the turn of another fic by plotbunniesinc . Suspension is a post-Cyberwoman fic from June/July 2008. The summary sounds intriguing, to say the least...

Summary: Every decision made changes the future. For better or worse, Ianto wakes up in a universe where he never had a chance to hide Lisa in the basement – A universe where he died in the wreckage of Canary Wharf and somebody else went to Cardiff with a deadly secret...

It's just 7 chapters and an epilogue, so it should be a manageable length to read in a week. I hope!

Time is in short supply everywhere! The good thing is, you can save the link and read it when you do have time...

I had two planned for this week, then realised there was no way I could fit in reading both of them, so I've completely reorganised the schedule so there's just one short fic a week, nothing longer than 8 parts. I can go back to longer fics in the New Year.

I have to take Misty in for more dental surgery tomorrow, then try to post the overseas cards and do some shopping... I don't seem to have time to breathe, gotta go clean out the fire now!

I'm working overtime this evening so I can get all my work done to take the day off tomorrow.
I'm going to be in your neck of the woods tomorrow as I have to go to the dentist then I'm going to go into the city to start my Christmas shopping. :-)

Be careful on the roads! They get slippery.

We'll have to see with Misty. It's getting to the point where it might be kinder not to put him through any more - not a pleasant thought, but he's not eating well and with all the meds twice a day and trying to syringe feed him too, he's getting irritable. Not that I blame him.

I'll be thinking of you, trudging around the shops in the city as I trudge around the few shopw we have left. Honestly, this bloody tram extension idea is the worst thought out waste of money ever. No one local wants it, loads of shops have closed or been forced to close to make way for it, the bus station is gone, apparently Chilwell High Road is going to be closed for a YEAR and both the garage that MOTs my car and the vet Misty goes to are just off the High Road... Prett soon there will be nothing left at all. *Iz fed up* =(

I got sucked in by the summary and read the first two chapters, and this fic looks really interesting! Unfortunately I have to dash but you can bet I'll be coming back to find out what happens. :) Thanks for the rec!

(I boggled a little at the number of comments. Kind of makes me wish I'd been around during the days this fandom was so active--imagine having so many people to talk TW with! But then again, I probably would have been blindsided by "CoE" like so many were and left a broken person, so maybe it's just as well.)

Being part of the fandom during the CoE debacle was pretty soul destroying. I read so much fan-reaction back then, people just as devastated as I was. Some of us still haven't fully recovered. The pre-publicity drew us in with a pack of lies, then proceeded to tear our hearts apart. It wasn't pleasant.

I'm looking forward o reading this one myself, but I won't even have time to start reading until later tonight. I have other things that need doing and Tomorrow Misty goes in for surgery again... I have to get up earlier than usual, which is not good. *heavy sigh*

I'm so, so sorry you had to go through that. :(

I went through something similar when the "Return of the King" movie came out, and I knew how that was going to end, having skimmed the book. But it was just so damn final for the characters I loved that I couldn't write any more in that 'verse afterwards. And it was devastating. So I can well understand what you went through! Especially with all those misleading publicity shots of Jack and Ianto looking very couple-y. Jeeze. I give you a lot of props for managing to hold on to the good parts of Torchwood and leave the bad.

I'm sorry to hear about Misty! I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you and him. <3<3

I've pretty much repressed anything CoE related - Denial is a lovely place! Ianto will live forever - with Jack - as far as I'm concerned!

Thanks, Misty needs all the positive energy he can get. I just need energy full stop!

I held off posting this lest I inadvertently spoil someone who was planning to read it right away, but I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed this fic!

One of the reasons AU's are so fascinating is they give the us a chance to see what life would have been like had the characters made different decisions, and this took it the next level. I really liked how Ianto worked on his problems with Jack in the AU, and then returned home and used what he learned to move them both forward.

And the surprise in the epilogue was awesome. Everyone got exactly what they deserved. <3<3

I totally adored the fic! I was sad for other Jack until I read the epilogue, then I was YAY! Shiny new Ianto! They'll live happily ever after now. Hope that other meanie realises just what he's lost now that he doesn't have a Ianto.

Iantos for everyone! :D I loved the idea of taking a neglected one from a Gwak fic/AU and sending him to the selfless Jack. There have to be more out there we can rescue!

There must be more Iantoless Jacks out there wuo are more deserving of having a Ianto than the (hopefully few) Gwen-obsessed Jacks

My action figure Jacks are very attentive to their Iantos, lol!
