Summary: It’s time for Other Ianto to return to his own universe.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Other Ianto followed Tosh’s instructions, returning to his arrival point and trying to mirror exactly what he’d been doing just before he wound up face-to-face with himself.

“Bon voyage!” Jack called. “Feel free to drop by any time!”

“If it’s all the same to you, I’d rather not,” Other Ianto quipped. “No universe really needs more than one of me.” He gave them a smile and a little wave. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” he told his twin. Then he was gone in a flash as Tosh triggered the power surge, leaving behind only a strong smell of ozone.

I started a story at someone else's requests a couple of years ago. A reader saw my Action Figure theatre Christmas party and wanted to know the story behind the multiple Jacks and Iantos, so I started writing it. It's still not finished and is currently over 7.5k words, don't know how long it'll be when I finally get it finished.

I have yet to decide whether to include my new Ianto action figure and the new Jack bought for him who should arrive next week sometime...

I'll finish writing it one day though. I hope.

Wow! I kinda wish something like that would happen to me again; my novella started as a dare from my ex-best-friend. But...given my current workload...it's probably just as well something like that doesn't happen to me again anytime soon, lol!

What the heck; might as well include them, too! In for a penny, and all that. :D

Long fics do take a lot of time and effort - and it's not even the longest one I've got on the go o_O

I don''t now, I already have four Iantos, six Jacks, and two versions of the Doctor in the story. It's not easy differentiating between which Jack or Ianto is which. Add two more and it might be too confusing!

Yeah, those lengthy ones can be hard, and hella time-consuming! I once did one in one week, and I still go back and wonder, how the fuck did I do that?! It can take me a week to write one that'll only be about four hundred words, sometimes, depending on the motivation I feel. So that one was a total fluke/WTF-moment.

Ah, good point about the differentiation. I'm eventually going to do one where Nine, Rose, and Jack run into Eleven and Amy, and I have no idea how I'm going to write the two Doctors together in one place. I managed well enough with a fic I wrote last Christmas for scripsi, but that was a short one; this one I'm planning to make into another novella, if I ever get started.

That could get complicated, with everybody saying "Doctor" and the Doctors not knowing which of them they mean!

My longest fic took me over a year to write, part of that was because I didn't write any of it for several months around the time Mum passed away. But it was over 80k words in the end so it was bound to take a while.

Sometimes I can write a complete fic in a day, sometimes it can take several days or even weeks. Depends on whether there's s deadline ans on whether the muses are cooperating.

Ooh, that could probably get pretty comical; I'll have to remember that! :D

Yeah, that's certainly understandable. Who could write, when they're grieving? :( I doubt that I did much writing after we lost Grandpa. Eighty thousand?! Whoa! I've never written more than a bit over nineteen thousand; that's really impressive!

I still wrote, writing was all that kept me going, it gave me an escape from the stress of everything that needed to be done. I just wrote short things because I couldn't get my head around the big, plotty stuff.

I used the challenges at fan_flashworks to inspire each chapter. It worked well and resulted in a much longer fic than it might have been. That said, writing something that long is not something I'm eager to try again o_O
