Spoilers: General for the Eleventh Doctor era.

Summary: The Doctor’s a bad influence, but Amy doesn’t care.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

Amy thinks he’s like the imaginary friend in a kid’s story, all boundless energy, gangly legs, eyes that twinkle with mischief, and hair that seems to have a life of its own. Everything’s an adventure to him, and he drags her along in his wake, getting her into one scrape after another, until she’s giddy and breathless.

She knows he’s a terrible influence on her, but she can’t resist going with him whenever he shows up, because even though it’s often scary and dangerous, the thrill of it all outweighs everything else.

He’s like an addiction she just can’t break.

The bad thing is, she is rather the same for him - happily charging into whatever crazy he can find. :D Which is what makes them so awesome!

*grins* You're right of course, they sort of egg each other on, like best friends almost daring each other and getting in and out of trouble together, often leaving chaos in their wake =)

I never understood people who didn't like Amy.

Indeed!!

Ohh, there were always excuses - she was too violent with Rory (they grew up together as kids and were always picking and thumping on one another, though Rory was unusually gentle for a boy), she's a spazz (ummm, terrible childhood with severe disappointments and being unusually bright, she refuses to tolerate bull, even from adults), little girl outlook, wanting to run away from home (seriously, who doesn't want to run away with their imaginary friend in a blue box, even when older?!)

Actually, I've always thought Amy herself was complex and Karen did an amazing job with how she protrayed her. All of Amy's eccentricities, oddities and fears on full display, even as she hid her true emotions and thoughts, even from her best friend and boyfriend. She operated like someone who had no tomorrow...which, with that crack in her wall, must have been a possibility in her mind.

Basically I never got it, either - but everyone expected a surface-only character and that was not what they got, lol!

I loved that Amy was such a multi-faceted, complicated character. She was smart, funny, brave, loyal, impulsive, but very private about certain things. I miss her. She had a rotten early life but she overcame it, and she lived life to the full. =)

And Rory too, I love the whole couple on the TARDIS thing, so much better than companions falling in love with the Doctor, it's a whole different dynamic.

Though I have scribblings that go rather the opposite and have the Doctor falling in love with Companions. Which can be fun. :D Team!Tardis and Tardis!Trio are awesomeness. We need more like it...

It rather depends on the companion though. I suppose because I grew up watching Doctor Who in the Sixties, there wasn't Doctor/Companion romance back then like their is now (even if it's often one-sided). It was more platonic back then. Excuse wonky grammar please, it's late and I'm tired.

I grew up watching it in the late seventies early eighties, but I could ping the romantic vibe between Sarah and Four. Even at a very young age. But yes, was very much platonic! I was rather upset when Eight kisses Grace, actually, lol!

I threw a fit when I started shipping the Doctor in my head. My Doctor is GEN!! Except (it seems) when he is not...alas..

Mine tends towards Gen too - mostly. Depends on the prompt I'm filling, I think I've done a bit of Ten/Rose though I'm not really a fan, I just feel a bit weird pairing the 900+ year old Doctor with a teenage girl *scratches head* Eleven/River or Twelve/River is fine with me though. I'm just generally peculiar I guess ;)

The kiss in the movie threw me. up to then, the Doctor didn't kiss and I was all 'nononono! That's not right!' o_O

Gen works best overall I think, though he's drawn to certain people I don't really see it as sexual attraction. Besides, the Doctor is an alien, whose to say whether sex even means the same thing to him? Or if he even has the same parts? Just because what we can see looks human doesn't mean the rest does.
