Title: The Right Look

Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted

Characters: The Doctor, any incarnation.

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 019: Dressed / Undressed at [livejournal.com profile] dw100.

Spoilers: General.

Summary: Every new regeneration needs a new look.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

A new face, body, and mind always mean a change of wardrobe. Often when he regenerates, he finds his old clothes no longer fit, and that’s even if they survive whatever caused his regeneration.

One of his first tasks, once everything has settled and his new brain can think coherently, is to find something to wear that suits not just his physical appearance but also his new personality. It can take a while, trying on countless outfits, but he knows the right look when he finds it.

Not until he’s fully dressed does he finally understand the person he’s become.

The End

What is it they say, "The clothes make the man (in this case, being)."

Clothes make the man? Maybe that's why I never could get into the 6th Doctor. *shudders*

A very fine analysis of the Doctor's psyche. You and only you could see all those small yet meaningful details behind the obviousness.

And the clothes really do give an outside sign that this Doctor is new and different very well... and the clothes are tasteful *most* of the time XD

He usually makes fun of his previous incarnations choice of style.

He is his own worst critic.

Eleven to Ten: Oops!...I'm wearing sandshoes.

True. He finds it easier to talk trivial issues in regards to himself rather than what's really bothering him.

He has been given nicknames of all sorts by various people or other life forms. Usually towards the negative variety. Maybe thats part of where its from.

Sliver of ice in his heart?.

In the promos they kept going on about Twelve being more "darker" than his previous incarnations. I dread to think if Moffat intends to do that. Ten was pretty scary when he became the Time Lord Victorious.

I was hoping Twelve had learned from his past experiences. One example is how he dealt with the situation in "Kill The Moon".

Eleven used his reputation as a way to scare any threats to humanity etc until it worked against him. He was more on the sneaky side. Amy and Clara both called him their best friend but he was always having to withheld information in regards to them.

As for Ten, he was the most unstable. He usually would run away until his hand was forced. Then he would seek revenge. He reminded me of John Simms Master. I guess being reminded over and over again that he was going to die made him irrational?. It made me miss Donna more seeing him like that.

We saw Nine at his most vulnerable and Rose came at the right time to distract him from the Time War.

Overall the Doctor will always have the ability to go "dark side" considering that his going back to traveling without a human champion for long periods of time. Ten was the most social and when he decided to go "cold turkey", he flipped.

Anyway. Once again I have strayed away from the original topic. So Doctor and fashion eh?.:)

Its always weird to see the Doctor still in his previous incarnations clothes.

Rose imprinted on Nine which is why Ten can be emotional, like humans. But when he turned himself human he didn't think about falling in love.

In Sci-Fi shows anything is possible but there are still consequences to consider. The Doctors character
is a metaphor for human behavior. Making a choice between whats right and wrong.

The champions are a representation of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Other heroes do not have the intellect of the Doctor to solve any kind of crisis. That's what makes him special.

Its bittersweet to see the Doctor in his old clothes because on one hand he is still the Doctor but on the other hand the man he previously was is gone.

It's not like a soap opera where viewers are suppose to disregard when the character is played by a different actor all of a sudden. Who ever invented the concept was clever.

I use to watch Neighbors and Home and Away until I realize how repetitive it was.

My mum likes watching Days Of Our Lives. If I hadn't watched The Bold And The Beautiful back in the nineties, then I would have missed out on making fun of it later on.

If I had an early mark from school, I would come home to see my mother watching The Young And the Restless. I think my mum watched these programs to escape from her troubles.
