Summary: Owen’s shirking instead of working.

“Owen, have you finished that report yet?” Jack called out.

“No, and it won’t get done any faster if you keep asking for it every five minutes,” Owen replied from the autopsy bay.

“Well, get it done fast as you can. I need to know what we’re dealing with.”

“Fine. Just leave me alone.”

Sighing, Jack went back to his office. Half an hour later, still no report. Marching over to the railing he looked down at Owen, who definitely wasn’t working.

“Owen, so help me, if you don’t get off Twitter and finish that report I’ll confiscate your phone!”

I had to do a double take, because I read the word shirking as shrinking, before looking up the definition.

This situation remind's me of when I want to get my brother's attention and his too busy looking up Facebook on his phone.

Funny how words that are commonplace in one place are unknown somewhere else. I did write a shrinking fic though - Small Problems. And I seem to remember shrinking Gwen in a couple of drabbles too. I love Torchwood because you can do literally anything to the characters and just blame alien tech ;)

It is lost: from the time Owen works for Jack ... I know that hope springs eternal, but in the case of Owen, it's more an attitude to enrage the rest of the team. As long as it's not a risk of death, if not, then, there, Owen will be on its best behavior.
The rest of the time, he loves doing criser them !!

True, but Jack's in the role of parent, he at least has to TRY to persuade Owen to behave. Perhaps some day it will work.
