Bunny Blues
Jun. 29th, 2010 09:25 amJust dropped my rabbit off at the vet for dental surgery. Needless to say, I'm now sitting here worrying about him - it's a general anaesthetic and they're always risky, but it has to be done as his teeth have gone wonky AGAIN. This will be his third surgery in 5 1/2 years, all because the idiotic thing refuses to eat hay or grass or anything that would wear his teeth down. I've never known a rabbit to NOT like hay! Have to phone the vet at 3pm to see if he's ready to come home - until then, all I can do is wait and worry =(

Date: 2010-06-29 03:32 pm (UTC)He'll need his teeth doing regularly from now on - which is going to be expensive if today's bill is anything to go by. Apparently he's missing all his lower back teeth on the left - I think there are supposed to be 4, but it could be 3, I can't remember which the vet said. Anyway, there's nothing for the upper ones to grind against. Which begs the question - where the hell did his teeth go? Was the tooth fairy getting desperate? I dunno, he's had surgery on his teeth twice before, but no one said anything about extractions, just trimming and filing, so that's a mystery. Right now he's a grumpy bunny but I'm sure he'll cheer up when it gets a bit cooler! I'll pass on your hug then! =)
