Summary: Jack’s marriage to Lucia didn’t last very long.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Just before their first anniversary, they’d discovered Lucia was pregnant. They’d been thrilled and excited, making plans for their family. By their second anniversary, they’d been parents, their baby daughter the most important person in either of their lives.

By their fourth anniversary, they were fighting most of the time. Lucia had always been spirited and fiery, but now everything he did or said seemed to make her angry, no matter how hard he tried.

But when he finally made it home on their fifth anniversary, laden with flowers and gifts, all Jack found was a note that said: “Goodbye.”

Poor Jack. I wonder if he really ever truly thought that he could make it work with his immortality or if they weren't both kidding themselves.

Jack has to keep hoping, I guess, otherwise there's no point in trying, and he needs love as much as anyone. Maybe more than most.

I know Lucia had it tough what with Torchwood and Jack's "gift" and I'm sure Jack wasn't the easiest person to live with, but I always got the impression she wasn't good for him.
This seems like something she would do. Too cowardly to tell him she was going - just leaving a note. And on their anniversary! That's just cruel!

I've always felt that she was just using Jack in some way, like she wanted a child and got one, but didn't really want Jack around once he'd outlived his usefulness.
