Title: Reliving The Present
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Jack, mentions the Team, the Doctor, Rose, past-Jack.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 326 – Doctor’s Visit at
tw100
Spoilers: Doctor Who, Boom Town.
Summary: Jack watches the events of Boom Town on CCTV.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
This day had been marked in red on Jack’s mental calendar for years, now he sat in his office listening to the sound that haunted his dreams.
He’d sent his team off a few hours ago on a wild goose chase up in the Beacons, investigating UFO sightings. Well, more like he’d let them go after ‘trying to dissuade them’. The more he’d said it was nothing, the harder they’d insisted on checking it out.
So, they were far away where they couldn’t interfere while the Doctor, Rose and his still-mortal self visited Cardiff.
He wished he’d gone with them.

Date: 2015-01-18 11:14 pm (UTC)He should have gone with them. It must have broken his heart to stay hidden and watch himself at his happiest and most carefree.
Even I get sad watching these episodes again. He looks so young, and, for want of a better word, light, and knowing what's going to happen to him.

Date: 2015-01-19 12:42 pm (UTC)He does, doesn't he? So happy and alive. There's this weariness he has as the leader of Torchwood that he didn't have back when he travelled with the Doctor and Rose. I guess over a century of living and waiting, through a bunch of wars and other stuff, will do that to a person.
Thank you.

Date: 2015-01-19 01:18 pm (UTC)He's still waiting, and he doesn't even know how disappointing j=his eventual encounter with the Doctor will be. He thinks it will make everything right again, but it won't... *hugs Jack*
Thank you!

Good and unusual use of the prompt.

Date: 2015-03-10 11:25 pm (UTC)He really must have been down there in the Hub during the events of that episode. I've read quite a few versions of that scenario so I thought I'd do my own.
(How are you doing with the new prompt? I'm having a great time with it, wondering how many I can write and post in a week. I'm up to six written so far!)

Date: 2015-03-10 11:39 pm (UTC)Six already? That's impressive!
I don't have any ideas. But I did get around to writing my ideas for the last 2 prompts. I should have posted them - I knew exactly what I wanted to say, but just didn't get around to it. I just seem to be quite apathetic where LJ is concerned at the moment. I will take advantage of the new rules for posting to old prompts and post them when I've thought of something for this week. I'm actually really pleased with how the 'kiss' one turned out.
On the plus side, as you have probably noticed by the number of comments I left you I have now finished commenting on tw100 up the the end of January.
And I have caught up with too_beauty's fics up to the end of August (I know I'm miles behind!).
I want to get up to date with tw100 and I need to finish reading too_beauty up to the end of last year, then go and read the few from other friends from the second half of last year, and then try and get caught up with the rest of your fics. It is a never ending task! As soon as I think I'm starting to make some headway something happens and I can't comment for a few days and then there seem to be a million more fics coming through on my friends feed!
