A/N: This one’s for milady_dragon. Prompt at the end. It’s also a double drabble.

Ianto was feeling hard done by, not to mention rather sore and itchy.

It shouldn’t have happened. Under normal circumstances, he was prepared for any eventuality, but somehow this time he hadn’t been and now he was paying the price.

The Rift alarm had gone off mid-morning, so he and Jack had headed out of Cardiff, under overcast Welsh skies, to find whatever had fallen through. Whatever it had been, it hadn’t survived the trip. As they’d trekked back and forth gathering scraps of debris, the sun had come out, so Ianto had removed his jacket, leaving just his shirt.

That turned out to be a big mistake. Whatever had possessed him to put on a black shirt that morning? Wandering around bent double, searching for any stray fragments, the sun had been beating down on his back the entire time, but he didn’t realise until he straightened up that it had scorched him right through the thin cotton.

Now he looked like a cooked lobster.

Owen was enjoying his predicament way too much; he’d find himself on decaf for the foreseeable future if he wasn’t careful.

But honestly, this was Wales, who would have imagined needing sunscreen in October?

Oh yes, Jack will be very attentive with the soothing lotions, he'll spend hours carefully applying them to every inch of Ianto's naked body... Oh dear, I think he may be getting a bit carried away. Ianto doesn't seem to mind though...

It's awful, I burned my back really badly the day before we were due to drive home from our holiday. Over 6 hours in a car, unable to sit comfortably is not good.

Poor Ianto is feeling very sorry for himself, as well as rather foolish. He's consoling himself by planning his revenge on Owen for the teasing, lol!

Poor Ianto! I do understand him, I only wear black clothes and even though I don't get sunburnt like him, it is very hot for summer time!
I am sure that Jack will offer to help him with some after-sun gel ...

Jack will be very caring and considerate of poor, sore, itchy Ianto, I'm sure =)

Black is a wonderful colour but I try to avoid wearing it on sunny days - I almost cooked my legs one year just wearing dark grey trousers, so I learned my lesson. It was very painful.

LOL considering where I'm from, I wouldn't need sunscreen in Wales even in July, but poor Ianto... he would burn in the shade...

At least he has Jack who would thoroughly enjoy rubbing him with lotion.

Ianto is like me, fair skinned and burns easily, poor boy. But Jack is very good at applying lotion, so maybe it's not all bad!

Truth to tell, British summers are getting colder and wetter. You're more likely to get sunburn in May these days than in summer.

When I went to Cardiff in June this year it was very sunny to tell the truth... funnily enough, I didn't see any rain when I was both in Cardiff and in London. *pets poor Ianto... in a place it's not burnt*

Speaking of skin tones, one of my very particular pet peeves with Torchwood fandom is people saying that Jack has golden or tanned skin. God, no. I know he's somewhat "tanner" than Ianto, but well, not tan. He's still the type of guy I'd recommend SPF 60+ sunscreen all over and plenty of water in summer around here LOL

LOL! True! I think he WOULD tan if he was careful with the lotion, but still... When I sent him and Ianto to the beach, I made them both use sunscreen *grins*

British weather is unpredictable. Mum's carer this morning said it didn't look like it would brighten up today. Now we have blue sky and sunshine. It's still freezing cold, of course - it's December after all - but it's definitely a lot brighter than it was three hours ago.
