Title: Trust Me

Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted

Characters: Jack, Ianto

Rating: G

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Jack’s powers of persuasion win again…

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: For one of the prompts I didn’t get around to using for tw100’s challenge 288 last year. I’ve dug them out again to supplement the prompts I got from my f-list, just because there are still loads I wanted to use. Prompt at the end.

Jack grinned at Ianto, eyes sparkling.

“Are you ready for this?”

Ianto tightened his grip.

“Probably not,” he replied, caught somewhere between wild excitement and abject terror, “but let’s do it anyway, before I change my mind!”

“Trust me, you’re gonna love it!”

“I’ve heard that before.”

As one they started to run down the slope, matching stride for stride, until suddenly, between one stride and the next, they were swooping smoothly upwards, the hillside receding beneath them. Ianto almost forgot to breathe; they were flying and the view was breathtaking!

Jack was right; he was going to love hang-gliding!

The End

A/N: Prompt was ‘Here We Go Into The Wild Blue Yonder’

I had enough heights at the Twin Towers' restaurant The elevator doors opened and my knees locked up so fast I almost fell out the door. It was a seriously disorienting experience that left me feeling like I'd fall over the side if I got out. Jack can have his hang gliding and you are a genius with this little drabble :D

They finished their new Tower but there's no way in hell I'll take a job in it. It isn't money; there's just ... SOMETHING... I can't put my finger on but I refuse to go in that area. I don't need to see the site; you can still feel the psychic confusion and emotions from that day if your sensitive enough to it. The last job I was in down there, I kept having flashbacks (on 47th floor). I'm just glad I wasn't there; they had a horrific view! It sets off my claustophobia even more.

It's funny; you'll still have people saying its been long enough for those who were there or near there to 'get over it' but that's not something you can do easily. I avoided the first bombing by a few months when my assignment ended for the first rotation; I was on the third rotation and I cut it short after they put me on the 79th floor in the North Tower. I couldn't deal with that height and I was even more uncomfortable than before. I guess I could say I shamed my Mohawk heritage since we're supposed to be good at heights but as I told my son's Commanding Officer to tell him: "dis azz intack; dis azz was NOT down dere!" I honestly don't understand why people need to see that site, but I don't condemn them. It does provide perspective.

I look at it like that, the respect, prayers and I think in small ways it helps. It's a reality that definitely crashes onto one when you see the size of the site. I would even think that after all this time, I'd be more comfortable with it but I avoid the area when possible...
