Summary: Ianto has one last chance to convince Jack to hire him.

Ianto buttoned his shirt, tied his tie and slipped into his jacket. His only suit; he hoped it looked smart enough.

This was probably going to be his last chance to get a job with Torchwood Three. Harkness was running out of patience with him, so now it was literally do or die; his persistence would either get him hired or killed. His knees turned to jelly at the thought, but then Lisa whimpered and Ianto gathered up the shreds of his courage. He’d come too far to give up.

“This has to work, I can’t fail you, not now.”

Yes, he's going all out to save Lisa, but it's having unexpected repercussions. He likes Jack, but he knows he'll have to betray him and the rest of the team. That's got to be an unbearable thought, but he'll do it anyway because he can see no other choice.

How beautiful. There's nothing Ianto won't do for someone he loves. That's one of the many reasons I adore him.

He's fiercely loyal to loved ones, but that loyalty is going to be sorely tested. Trying to save Lisa means lying to as man he quickly comes to like and admire, and then his loyalty gets split. He still wants to save Lisa, but what about Jack? I really feel for him, it's an impossible he's stuck in and it ends up backfiring quite spectacularly.

I find Ianto quite a noble character, he must have incredible strength of character to achieve everything he does, as well as being highly resourceful. Rescuing Lisa and getting her out of Canary Wharf must have been a huge undertaking, but then he needed to liberate a conversion unit, find transport and get everything to Cardiff, and find somewhere to hole up while trying to get accepted by Torchwood Three. Most people wouldn't have managed the first part.
