Hello, and apologies for the lateness, I'm having the day from hell. Not only did I have to call the doctor out for my mum, who has a cough, but my internet provider decided to block my access to LJ, Dreamwidth and several other sites and their home security centre that was doing it would not switch off no matter what I did. Took over and hour and three phone calls to get it sorted, during which they insisted on speaking to mum because it's her name on the bills. I'll have to get that changed. Now I have a massive headache and I'm even more stressed than before =(
Anyway, on to this week's fic, another short one because I have almost no time for anything, let alone reading. Through Other Eyes is a 4 part fic from August 2007, written by
halfspokenwords.
Summary: An AU in which Ianto is offered command of Torchwood Three after Canary Wharf.
This sounds interesting! I suspect that a lot of things will be different from ther show; I do love AUs that look at all those What If? scenarios.
Part 1 is here. - Parts are linked.
That's all for this week. Happy reading, everybody.

The Doctor arranged yesterday for mum to have blood taken here at home for testing today and no one showed up. When I phoned the surgery, I was told the appointment had been cancelled and rescheduled for next Wednesday. Mum's ill now! She needs the blood tests now, not in a week! The poor receptionist couldn't even find out WHY the appointment was cancelled or why we weren't notified as we should have been, especially as the records said we HAD been notified. I think whoever did it has mixed mum up with another patient.Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow what's going on.
So, no, today hasn't really been better than yesterday *sigh* Everything has got it in for me. I feel exhausted.
*hugs* Thank you for caring! It's nice to have friends to moan to. (Sorry for moaning though).
At least I'm not being blocked from my journals now *clings to internetz*

I may be about a year behind with my commenting, but I am still here lurking ready to offer support when needed. Hope tomorrow improves - sounds like it can't get much worse. What happened with the doctor (and the postman) is so frustrating. I hate that they try to get you to make an appointment a week in advance - you don't know when you are going to be ill, it isn't planned, and if you wait until you are ill to phone the doctor by the time they can see you, you are better anyway (which is probably what they are banking on). Hope they figure out where their mix up was and manage to bring your mum's appointment forward.
*Hugs some more*

Date: 2014-11-12 12:26 pm (UTC)Today's no better. apparently someone DID come yesterday for mum's blood tests, but it must have been before I fixed the doorbell. They also knocked - on the outside of the double-glazed porch door, which can't be heard indoors unless you happen to be standing in the hall. Why does no one have the sense to open the porch door and ring the bell inside the porch or knock on the front door itself?
I'm on the second load of laundry today already - no idea how I'll get it dry. Mum leaked so her bed had to be stripped. I left mum sheets and an undersheet, so the carer could do the bed while I was doing the fire, but mum didn't bother with the undersheet so now there's nothing but a thin cotton sheet over the mattress. So as soon as I have dry sheets I'll have to strip the bed. Again. *sigh*
I got breakfast at 11.30 today. Got up at 7.30. I've ordered some mattress protecting pads and a new doorbell with two remote receivers. Ours has two, but only one works. Of course. That could be here tomorrow, but the pads won't arrive until Monday. Meanwhile, my parcel should be re-delivered tomorrow, and we have a coal delivery scheduled. It's going to be a very long week.
I know what you mean about doctors appointments. Used to be, you could get an appointment within a couple of days. Sometimes even the same day. Too many people clog up the surgeries for stupid things that they can treat themselves with over-the-counter remedies. Like they make an appointment because they have a cold.
I just hope I can make time today to write and post. I haven't missed a single day this year, I don't want to start now.
*more hugs*
