Sad to say, Ianto got knocked out in the quarter finals. On the bright side, voting stayed close throughout, the final tally being Ianto 47.94% and Spock 52.06% - that's really amazing when you think how long Spock and Star Trek have been around and how much more mainstream Star Trek is compared to Torchwood. We gave it our best shot, it wasn't quite enough, but it's shown that Ianto is still in our hearts and minds and that's a positive message to send out to whomever might be paying attention.

Jack is through to the semi-finals though, so support our captain!

Voting hasn't started on the semi-finals yet, possibly because there's a dead heat between Luke Skywalker and Arthur Dent.

But you see how incredible it is, anyway? Ianto had a miniscule amount of screen time compared to Spock, who has been around since the 60's, and yet Ianto was not only competing against him in this round, but running a very close race as well. That really is saying something about the character GDL brought to life, don't you think? He didn't have to win this to be a winner. Just being in the running against SPOCK. SPOCK! Amazing.

Well, there a lot of people unhappy with Doctor Who right now, although I don't understand the Moffat hate at all, but still, I cannot imagine Captain Jack winning out over the Doctor. Depends on how dedicated the fans are, I guess. I was thinking that time periods would be a fairer contest. New sci-fi like Torchwood, and Guardians of the Galaxy, etc., in one category, and older sci-fi, like Star Trek, Doctor Who, in another. But then Who fits into both. Classic Who and NewWho. Who knew? :)

Ah, he did incredibly well, though! There's no shame in losing to Spock, one of the most iconic sci-fi characters of all time, and in such a close race to boot! I'm very proud of our boy, and all the dedicated Torchwood fans who made it such a close race!

Now Jack is up against Luke Skywalker and the Doctor is up against Spock, so we Torchwood and Whovians still can still make our voices heard in this contest!

There must have been a big Star Wars push at the last minute because unbelievably Luke beat out Jack. But no way is he going to beat the Doctor.
