This time, Ianto is facing Mr Spock, so he needs all the help he can get! Please vote for our Ianto, and spread the word to as many people as you can, let's get the Coffee King through to the next round!

Jack is also still in, this time facing Captain Tightpants himself, Mal Reynolds. Can we hope for a final between our two favourite boys? We can try!

OH, wow. Choices. I think it shows that fans of Doctor Who and Torchwood are more invested in voting than those of other shows, and three of the eight or from the Whoverse. Maybe because it's newer, and younger fans are voting. I don't know. But how do you decide between Jack and Captain Tightpants? Captain Picard and the Doctor? Ianto and Spock? If I wasn't a big fan of GDL, I would have to go with Spock, because he's iconic, and Ianto had very little screen time. Delimmas, delimmas. Yeah, I went with Jack and Ianto.

So did I, but I'd already decided I'd vote for them regardless of who they came up against. In previous rounds, I voted Spock (who is part of my childhood - I used to believe I was part Vulcan because I have a pointed ear, lol!) and Mal, who I adore. But now things are REALLY serious. Gotta support Ianto Jones!

Agreed. He didn't get nearly enough screen time, and Gareth got short-changed by RTD as well, I think.

I know. Spock. He was my favorite character in Star Trek.

But we're proving just how much Ianto means to us! We'll never let RTD and co take our Ianto away from us! He lives on!

Spock was just one of my favourite characters ever, but Ianto has eclipsed him. Sorry, Spock.

Yeah, it's kind of 'Up yours, Turd man.' I'm torn between giving him credit for creating such a well-loved character, and hating him for destroying that character, and Captain Jack, and the show. Hating always wins. It's the fan fiction authors who keep our show alive. So here's to you and all the other 'Ianto lives' writers.

I think GDL did more to create Ianto than RTD did. He took the bare bones of a background character and turned him into someone adored by the fans.

I agree. Gareth is so expressive. The different looks he can do are amazing. I think that's a good actor. Someone who can convey things without words. I don't expect him to come out ahead of Spock, but just being in competition with such a long-lived famous character is incredible. I'll bet he's saying 'Up yours, RTD'. LOL

I'm still campaigning, trying to get him more votes! It's so close between them. It just sucks that it's such a long round! I wish it would just end the next time Ianto takes the lead so that he wins, but it goes on until Monday afternoon!

He's a very subtle actor.

If I'm reading the brackets correctly, if (when!) Ianto gets through to the next round, he goes up against whoever wins the Doctor/Captain Picard race...which looks like it's going to be the Doctor, big surprise. I would be very happy if Ianto made the quarterfinals, but I just don't see him winning against the Doctor. :(

I think it's just fantastic that, after so many years, Ianto is still just as popular as ever!

I doubt that anyone can beat the Doctor, but if Ianto could just squeak through this round, it would send a message to the PTB that we still love Ianto.

I know I'm going to alienate half my flist by saying this but I hate star trek! I will be so disappointed if he loses to a treky!

Yes, I'm sure. I've voted on 3 machines, but Ianto is still losing. Not by much, he's doing a very respectable job of staying right up there with a character who, even though you don't like Trek, you have to admit it's massively popular, Spock in particular so the fact that the vote is so close just proves what an impact Ianto Jones has had on popular culture. He deserves applause.

I wish he would win in the last couple hours, I can still hope a legion of fans have their fingers poised on the button to vote in the last few minutes!
