Summary: Ryo understands how Bikky is feeling; he’s been there himself.

Looking at Bikky, hunched up in the chair, Ryo’s heart ached for the boy. He was so small, just a kid, and he’d lost everything. Dick Goldman hadn’t been much of a father but he’d been all Bikky had, his only family.

Ryo understood only too well what the boy was going through. Even after ten years, he clearly remembered how he’d felt when his parents were killed. Nothing had ever hurt worse, and he’d been almost twice Bikky’s age.

Grief was a heavy burden for someone so young. Ryo would make sure Bikky didn’t have to carry it alone.

Awww! That's our Ryo, already feeling protective of the poor boy! After all, he knows exactly what Bikky is going through...

I think that's why he was determined to take Bikky in. Ryo had his aunt and uncle, even though he was almost an adult. Bikky has no one. Ryo wants to change that.

I've always believed that was a big part of the reason that Ryo took in Bikky.

It makes sense. Ryo strikes me as an empathic person. He understands what Bikky's going through, can put himself in the boy's place, and wants to protect him. A child shouldn't have to deal with that kind of grief.

Yeah, that was a tough time for Biks, and it brought back memories for Ryo I guess.
