Title: Road Closed

Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, Owen

Rating: G

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: Some of Cardiff’s motorists have run into a spot of bother.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: For the prompt ‘Variations on a Theme of Road Rage’, one of the prompts I didn’t get around to using for tw100’s challenge 288 last year. I’ve dug them out again to supplement the prompts I got from my f-list, just because there are still loads I wanted to use.

The alien was nine feet tall, covered in shaggy brown fur. Ianto thought it resembled the descriptions of the legendary Bigfoot, except that its face was like a bulldog’s.

It was also in a foul mood.

Appearing out of nowhere in the middle of a major road during rush hour, the creature had immediately brought traffic to a standstill. People had fled in panic, leaving their vehicles behind to be systematically pulverised by huge, hairy fists.

“That takes Road Rage to a whole new level,” commented Owen.

Ianto had to agree. There were going to be some interesting insurance claims.

The End

Oh dear! That creature is going to be difficult to corral. I wonder what cover story the team is going to invent to explain all that damage? Localized earthquake? Meteors falling from the sky?

Maybe all the Bigfoot and Yeti sightings are really alien creatures! That's why they are so elusive--either they pop back into the Rifts from which they came, or the local equivalent of Torchwood sweeps in and does the clean up. :-p

Edited because I typed "Bigfood"--can you tell I had a bit of a lie in today and haven't had breakfast yet? :-p

I've always imagined that Cardiff has some sort of Rift insurance, only they call it Torchwood insurance...and you can only make claims if Torchwood shows up on the scene.

Oh crap, I so need to write that! *smacks bunnies down*

Could you imagine? That's not exactly going to be covered up easily, is it? Retcon in the water supply? Long nights combing youtube and twitter etc. for photos. Yuck. Poor Ianto

(btw, re insurance: Admiral and its relatives are based in Cardiff. Much as I hate them, they're probably the people to talk to about Acts of Torchwood)

As traumatic as this would be if it really happened, this is really kind of hilarious. As to the insurance claims needing to have at least one Torchwood signature, poor Ianto, cuz you know he'd be the one stuck with all the extra paperwork. Of course, Ianto would know about it before all of the others and have made it mandatory that the duty be divided up amongst the team.
