Title: Hell On Earth

Author: [livejournal.com profile] badly_knitted

Characters: Ianto, mentions Lisa

Rating: PG-15

Written For: Challenge 319 – Stationery/Stationary at [livejournal.com profile] tw100

Spoilers: Cyberwoman.

Summary: Ianto will use any means possible to avoid detection during the Battle of Canary Wharf.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

Unmoving, still as death, motionless, Ianto shut his eyes and prayed to a God he wasn’t sure he believed in anymore. Hell had come to earth, complete with blood and flames and the screaming of souls in torment.

The air stank of smoke and burning flesh, the stench almost choking him and he tried not to breathe as heavy metallic footsteps approached his hiding place. By some miracle, they passed by, the metal monsters apparently unaware that an unconverted, living human lay among the bodies of the slaughtered.

As the robots departed, he finally moved. He had to find Lisa.

The End

That had to have been so terrifying for him. I don't know that I could have made myself lay there as they came closer. I think I'd have panicked and given myself away.

Those 2 episodes were on this week and I am again amazed at how the hell he escaped that with Lisa in that unit. Then Donna's ep followed showing HC Clements and its connection to Torchwood. I have to admit, OCD never looked so good or frightening as when Cyberwoman Yvonne took out a few of those things ...and I understand why Jack hated the London office.

You really captured all that in this drabble...

That must've been really terrifying... and to think how it kept going in some way until Lisa died :*(

It's not your usual style, but it's all awesomeness. You captured the darkness perfectly.

*shudders* That's one of the best imaginings I've ever read about Ianto during the Battle. Well done.

People sometimes forget that Ianto lived through this; that he probably had to do some awful things to survive; that he should probably be certifiable after everything he's seen. They forget how strong he is. You don't. He did what he had to do to survive, to help Lisa.

This is chilling and very evocative, and I can't come up with an adjective that describes my, um, 'enjoyment', for lack of a better word.
