Jack pulled at his sock with all his strength, leaning backwards to get leverage with his bare feet against the cement floor. The sock stretched to a ridiculous length but Myfanwy refused to let go; she had a good grip on the toe and it took little effort for her to hold on. Jack, however, was puffing and panting, straining every muscle.

Leaning against the railings, Ianto chucked. Something would have to give soon, and it wouldn’t be Myf.

“It’s your own fault, Jack. I warned you not to toss your clothes everywhere. You’re lucky she only got your sock!”

I know, right? Even if he did, it would be stretched so much it would be useless as a sock, but he just won't give up. It's his pride at stake by now, he doesn't want to lose the battle.

This scenario is strikingly familiar to me with an eight month old puppy in the house who is oddly fascinated with socks, and shoes. Not to eat, just to carry around. It's somehow hilarious when a matching pair of either happens to show up in the same place. Trying to chase them down is useless and getting them back after you catch her? Forget it! Jack doesn't stand a chance!

He's doomed to failure but he just refuses tom give up. Ianto doesn't know whether to rolls his eyes or fall over laughing. Even id Jack DID get the sock back, it wouldn't be wearable.

At least your puppy doesn't chew them! Matching pairs must be a rare and startling sight!

Ha, ha! It appears that Myf is just like a big dog in some respects. My dog loves to play tug-o-war. And to chew socks. :-p

Very misshapen indeed, and totally unsuitable for use as a sock I would think! At this point though, it's the principle that matters. Jack wants to win this battle. Ianto knows he doesn't stand a chance, but try convincing Jack of that!

I've only read that about ferrets, so I don't know for sure that it's true, I was only a temporary ferret-sitter after a stray wandered into my garden.

I think she just thought it would make good nest material. After all, it had been discarded...
