Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Jack
Rating: PG
Written For: Challenge 316 – Reverse Fandom – How I Met Your Mother at

Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Jack and Ianto have a late night Rift alert to deal with.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Prompt at the end.
Just after two in the morning, the deafening sound of the Rift alarm dragged Jack and Ianto from a deep sleep.
“Bugger. That’s all we need after the day we’ve had,” Ianto muttered, dragging himself from the bed and going to check the coordinates. Jack followed with their clothes.
OoOoOoOoO
Three hours later, they trudged back into the Hub, covered in mud from chasing several dozen three-legged aliens around Bute Park in the pouring rain, trying to get them back into their spaceship.
“We should’ve stayed in bed,” Ianto grumbled. “I could’ve told you nothing good ever happens after 2 am.”
The End
A/N2: Title used was ‘Nothing Good Happens After 2 am’

Date: 2014-06-15 10:43 am (UTC)I'm sure they can salvage something from the night. A nice hot shower and the day off will help.
How asre you doing with your bingo? 16 days to go, including today. I have 7 left to write, 19 to post altogether, I'm not going to have time to get the rest betaed. Written one today from notes I made last night, going to try to get the Cuddles one done. Still no reply from the community on whether I can use random prompts from my card for one story, so don't know if I can use part of the Jack & Ianto as kids fic for the Promise square on my card. I'll hold off writing anything for that as long as I can. I must be insane, I left it even later than you to decide I wanted to get a blackout!

Date: 2014-06-15 01:32 pm (UTC)I have one more written that I need to post, three that I'm working on and another five left to start. Why do we put ourselves through this? I have no time! I have two big projects on at work, and now a colleague is off for a week so I'll have to do his project too which is already three weeks late so can't wait until he gets back. I spent this morning making sugar paste flowers for another colleague's wedding cake. I spent yesterday sewing parts of our class's costumes for our dance show (why did I volunteer to help with that?) and all I really want to do is sit and write! And catch up with my reading and commenting.
I'm pleased to see someone else is as insane as me trying for the blackout! You can do it! There's still plenty of time (that's what I'm telling myself - I don't believe it but I'm still saying it!) I always take it to the wire. I wrote six fics in the last twenty four hours of last year's h/c, so it can be done! :-)

Date: 2014-06-15 05:04 pm (UTC)Although I have been writing for four hours today and only managed about five paragraphs. I just can't seem to get into it. (I just wasted the last half hour looking at pretty pictures of GDL on the internet. I was looking for inspiration - honest). I now have five fics on the go, but none of them are really going anywhere. Grrr.
Wow! That is amazing that you have written three today! You go girl! ;-)
I really need to write something for tw100 today as well. I should probably go and look at the prompts. I hate ones where we have so much choice.

Date: 2014-06-15 07:39 pm (UTC)You'll get your brain in gear to write soon. I just started writing and come up with something that way from the flimsiest of ideas with the last one. The previous two I wrote some notes last night and worked from those. Five left, I'm going to try to tackle Lighthouse tomorrow - I hate that one with a vengeance!
Took me four hours yesterday to write one story, today I managed three. you never know what will happen when you start trying to write.

Date: 2014-06-15 08:33 pm (UTC)'Lighthouse' sounds difficult but could be good. You could be literal about it and use the lighthouse on Flatholm, or you could use it as a metaphor.
I'm currently working on 'glass', 'true love' and 'losing virginity'. Hopefully I'll get one of them finished tonight.
Thanks for the offer of picking a prompt. I still haven't looked at them! If you have one in particular you'd like to see written then let me know, if not don't worry about it - you have enough on your plate at the moment too without searching out prompts for me!

Date: 2014-06-15 09:11 pm (UTC)Congratulations on finishing another! Your prompts look as hard to do as mine *sigh* Good luck with them!
I'll take a look at too_beauty's =)

Date: 2014-06-15 10:14 pm (UTC)I have two left to post, but I don't know if the prompt will run another week. Sometimes I get paranoid and wonder if te mods are waiting for me to run out of ideas before they post a new prompt, lo1!
Good luck, I'd love to see you come up with something for The Naked Man!
