A New Year - Time For Resolutions!

A New Year is here and it's traditional to make resolutions, which is something I'm crap at! However this year, I have one I hope to stick to! It involves reading fanfiction =)

It occurs to me that there are hundreds of fanfic series that I haven't had a chance to read yet. Mostly I stick to oneshots, with a few WiPs that I follow. So, my resolution is to pick a completed, shortish fanfic series each week to read - longer ones might take a couple of weeks to read of course, but I hope to finish reading one most weeks.

Since this week is already half gone, I've chosen a very short one - this week's fic is to be *fanfare*

Secrets by sqyd - an imaginary season 4, post CoE, with Ianto in the list of characters.

I think this sounds like an excellent resolution. :D I tend to do the same thing as you though - I rarely read WIPs, though I'm sure there are a lot of great ones I've missed. I should probably make this resolution for myself! *_*

I decided when I started reading fanfic that I wouldn't read WiPs, I'd wait until something was complete before i read it. Then I though, 'well. just reading ONE won't hurt...' Now, of course, I'm regularly juggling a dozen or so WiPs, gazing longingly at new stories starting, trying to keep up with new onehots, while trying to read some of the backlog of oneshots that have piled up, so the finished seriesjust keep getting neglected and there are all those Big Bang and reel_tw fics that have been posted in the last couple of months...

I thought this way, maybe I'll get through close to 50 series this year, as long as they're not massively long (no more than 20 chapters maybe). It's worth a try! And it's more fun than resolving to clear out all the junk from my room - which is something I probably should do but I have so much reading to do, I don't know if I'll have time =P

There will be more Nosy, but I'm juggling faulty computers at the moment, so it's hard to settle down to write. I have the next one half-written, but then faulty computers, family upsets and Christmas got in the way =(

I thought if I posted which story I was reading each week, anyone else could join in too, then after, if anyone else read it we could talk about what we liked/didn't like about the story. Like a reading club on a very small scale!

LOL! I haven't even started the fic yet. I had to leave to go eat with husband and we watched some NCIS TV. shows, then picked up Alex from the grandparents so I couldn't get back to you.

You being in the United Kingdom and me in the states our time zones are quite different. I need to be up early here to catch you in the afternoon I think and no later than maybe 6 or 7 o'clock our time. I'm bad to stay up late here and then miss you before I can get things done and get online. Just depends on the day with me and how I am feeling too.

Alex starts back in school next week so I will be getting up "early" to get him off to school. I may die! I hate mornings! It takes me a couple of hours to wake-up in the morning...I think we talked about that already?...I talk to some other friends occasionlly so I get mixed up. I must have my coffee and breakfast before I can live.

When I can I will bring my coffee back here and post.

Time zones confuse me o_O

I slept, but not very well. It's now nearly 1pm and I'm only just having breakfast. Had so many jobs to do this morning before I could sit down, I'm really late today *sigh*

Ok, I figured it pretty close, I think. You sent me this at 6:55 a.m (It says in my mailbox anyway, not on lj) my time and it was 1pm your time, so I was about right. I think I am about 7 hours "behind" you, I think...lol! So when you wrote your email, I was asleep, not to wake for many hours! I slept in to...eh?...1pm my time! LOL! See why I can't catch you some days. Must be around 10:00 p.m. your time. You will be in bed soon and I am just getting started...late mind you. I'm very strange if you hadn't noticed. *evil grin*

Can you check out her post that she posted today "Writer's Block" about what to kill a zombie with...lol! and read my reply. I thought I might be funny...or not....just wanted you to see it for some reason.

Oh, I must go check that out! Zombies, hmmmm, I remember reading her post much, much earlier today - I think her answer was a lightsabre, lol, very apt for her obviously! I'll go look in a bit - if I remember!

Yep, just a bit after 10pm here, though I probably won't get to bed before 1am - probably why I end up getting up so late, lol!

So I'm 7 hours ahead... I must try to remember that, I'm sure it's information I'll find useful at times. I never seem to remember useful things though, just random, pointless things =S

You're welcome, I hope you enjoy! There are quite a few by now, it's been running for over 2 years already!

There are a few where the journals have since been deleted, but in some cases I have copies saved or I know of alternate places to find the fics so if any of those are fics you want to read/re-read, let me know and I'll supply either alternate links or email the fic to you.
