Summary: Dee comes across a waif in an alley.

A/N: This one’s also for awieatti, who prompted me with – Dee, Kitten.

A/N2: Okay, this is getting SERIOUSLY freaky; my second FAKE drabble is also 100 words exactly, no editing required. O.O

Searching an alley for evidence, Dee could hear a scrabbling sound coming from an old box. He would have dismissed it as the ever-present rats if he hadn’t heard a faint mew.

Inside the box was a small, black kitten, skinny and weak but still fighting to escape. Lifting the tiny creature from the box, he cradled it in one hand.

“Abandoned in an alley, just like me. Well, don’t worry; you’ll be okay now. Guys like us need to stick together.”

He tucked the shivering kitten inside his shirt to warm it up.

“I really hope Ryo likes cats.”

There will be a follow-up soon - it was going to be a second drabble, but ended up as a set of six. Not sure when it will be posted, hopefully over the weekend at some point since it's a sequel.

When my friend handed me the prompt, I knew right away what I wanted to do with it. Dee understands the kitten. He pretends to be tough (and is really), but he's a big softie at heart.

Are Dee and Ryo together at this stage? Or is Dee hoping to use the cat to help win Ryo's affection?

I set this one after the end of Vol. 7, so yeah, they're together by now - and living together too, I decided, for the purposes of the sequel. It's kind of AU in that in the manga it takes years for Dee to ask Ryo to move in with him, even after they finally get together. Of course, the timelines in the manga are ridiculously mixed up anyway since Ryo's adopted son's age seems to go up and down at random like a demented yoyo.

Thank you! Kitty isn't all that cute in its current state, but it'll get there with a bit of care.

Sequel hopefully sometime over the weekend.

Awwwww! (You should hear me squealing right now) How ADORABLE is that! And it's black, too, it's like a little Dee-kitten! (has it green eyes, too?) I'm so looking forward to the sequel! <3

And wow, how do you do that with the 100 words without editing? Creeeepy... Oh well, maybe it's your drabble experience. I always have to edit the hell out of my drabbles xD

Although I never mention it, yes, the kitten has green eyes, because that's just the best colour for a black cat, lol!

I might post the sequel sometime at the weekend, just 'cause I want to get it out there after working on it for several weeks. It ended up not as one drabble, but as a set of 6 that I'm posting together.


I usually over run with my drabbles - I've written over 400 of them by now, but I've only hit 100 exactly at the first try 6 times. It's just a fluke when it happens. It was crazy that I did it with my first two FAKE drabbles though.

6 Drabbles, double-yay! I'm curious how Ryo will respond to Dee suddenly bringing a kitten home! Somehow, I can foresee many more adorable moments to come... ^_^
Let's just hope Dee doesn't get fleas or something from the little thing - I'm sure Ryo wouldn't be very amused about that! xD

No fleas on this kitty! To be honest, the thought never crossed my mind, though it should have. Perhaps it wasn't in the alley long enough to catch them from the rats.

Hopefully there will be more kitty stories when I get ideas for them, this one only covers the first few days.

The poor kitty has enough problems already, it doesn't need to have fleas as well :D
I love the kitten-series so far! And I'm looking forward to reading more about Kuro & friends ^_^

I don't know when I'll get around to writing more, I have a lot of other things I need to finish writing, but there will be more drabbles eventually.
