Summary: Jack’s thoughts on John Hart’s unwelcome visit.

Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: For the prompt ‘Bad’, one of the prompts I didn’t get around to using for tw100’s challenge 292: Billboard Hot 100 last year. I’ve dug them out again to supplement the prompts I got from my f-list, just because there are still loads I wanted to use.

Jack wasn’t pleased to see John Hart. Having him turn up in Cardiff would never have been a good thing, but his timing couldn’t have been worse.

He’d never been exactly stable; a loose cannon on his good days, when the mood struck he made most psychopaths seem as harmless as Sunday school teachers by comparison.

There’d been a time when Jack had been just as bad, and he hadn’t had the excuse of being a borderline sociopath with nonexistent impulse control.

Hart was a reminder of a part of Jack’s life he would sooner forget.

Jack wanted him gone.

Great drabble! I really like John; he's such a bad boy, but I think he's got a soft side to him as well. I hope you write more of him in future fics.

I go back and forth between loving and hating John, depending on which episode is in my mind at the time. He's not the most admirable person, but I wonder sometimes if he can be reformed.

I have a couple more drabbles to come at some point, either about him or including him, I just don't know when they'll be posted yet, they're in a very long queue, lol!

I'm feeling my way with the character at the moment; I figure it's about time I got used to him so that when I need to write him in the future, I'll know what I'm doing. He's not easy to pin down though.

John definitely has that 'love to hate, hate to love' thing going on. I blame James Marsters for being so darn good at playing sexy bad boys, lol!

I agree that John can be tricky to write, but you do such an amazing job writing everyone else, I'm sure you'll do great.

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I certainly aim to try, but there's always a certain amount of feeling my way when I start writing a character I haven't written before. It takes a while to feel like I'm getting their 'voice' right. I still find Ianto and Jack the easiest to write, but I think I'm making progress with Tosh and Owen at last.

It's easier to write about a characher without using dialogue, their actions are often easier to capture than their words, but John will have a speaking role at some point.

But still... (spoiler) that scene when John and Jack first met again and kissed before punching each other's brains out... that was hot! *rawrrr*

Hart doesn't have any self control worth speaking of. if he wants to do something, he does it, never caring about the consequences or even really thinking them through. Sexy, yes, but he can't ever be trusted.

You should write more John. His character was under used in the show, and also in fic. We need to rectify this....

Thank you! I do have two or three more drabbles written with him in, another from Jack's POV, one from John's and... something else entirely, lol!

I'm slowly trying to get a handle on his voice, he's not the easiest of characters to write - for me, anyway.

I either love him or hate him, depending on the episode and on what he happens to be doing at the time. The same with Spike.
