Title: Pest Control
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Jack, Herman.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 699: Jog at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Walks with Herman are quite an adventure.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Despite all of Ianto’s warning about the dangers of taking Herman out of the Hub, both Jack and the dragon enjoyed their walks. It was pleasant strolling along deserted backstreets and alleys in the early hours of the morning, when it was just the two of them with nobody else about.
It had some taken time and a lot of patience, plus a few dislocated shoulders, but Jack had at last managed to train Herman not to chase cats, since they weren’t interested in playing with a dragon. Rats, on the other hand…
When he spotted one skittering along at the base of a warehouse wall, Herman broke into a trot and Jack was forced to jog to keep up.
“Whoa there, Herman. Heel!” The training was a work in process, obviously; Herman didn’t always listen to commands, and the rat was a fat, juicy one, too much of a temptation for a healthy young dragon.
As Herman speeded up, so did Jack, his jog turning into a lope, strides lengthening. Before he could get pulled off his feet, however, he let go of Herman’s leash.
“Get it, Herman! Kill!”
Herman would anyway; might as well make it an order.
The End
