Summary: World peace has finally been achieved, thanks to alien intervention.

A/N: Double drabble.




Hundreds of years ago, back in the twenty-first century, Ianto had doubted that world peace would ever be a possibility. There was too much divisiveness, too much intolerance, too many power-hungry would-be dictators causing strife within and between nations. Then the 456 had come, wanting to take ten percent of earth’s children, and humanity had briefly been of one mind, facing a common foe.


Things hadn’t changed overnight, but that was surely when they’d begun to improve. The arrival of representatives from several friendly alien races had helped, as people had begun to realise how insignificant they were, and how unimportant their quarrels, when compared to the sheer immensity of the universe.


Two millennia on, and earth was enjoying a golden age. National borders were merely lines on maps and the closest to war humanity had come in the last thousand years had wound up being little more than a mild disagreement over who should be allowed use of a newly formed island, the result of volcanic activity in the ocean between two continents.  It had been settled easily by declaring it Fluff Island.


Fluffs were everywhere now, helping everyone understand each other. Ianto was convinced they’d saved the world.

Oh but they would. Why can't we have them? Seriously there are times when I almost despair of Humanity. So much greed, and yet so often there are acts of kindness

I'm despairing right now, which is why I wrote this. Fluffs are exactly what the world needs.

Without those acts of kindness, we wouldn't be worth saving.
