Doctor Who Drabble: Tastes

Title: Tastes

Summary: The Doctor finally finds something he fancies, even if it might not be to human tastes.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.




He’s not human, he’s a Time Lord. Just because he looks sort of humanlike from the outside doesn’t mean he’s like a human on the inside. He has things humans don’t, like two hearts, and his senses are only superficially similar. Eyesight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, all so much more sensitive than a human’s, and regeneration just exacerbates everything.


It’s not his fault everything he asks for tastes so… bleurgh! He’s trying to work out what his new body needs, he just keeps getting it wrong.


Fish fingers and custard though… A little of what you fancy does you good.

That doesn't sound appealing at all, although maybe it's potato ice cream. I believe that has been an actual thing, even if my response to that was, WHY? I'd never try it.

I like sweet potatoes, but didn't realise there is a ice-cream recipe for it.

I believe Matt Smith switch to coconut breaded cakes after too many takes with the fish fingers.

The way I heard it, they used coconut cakes in the custard from the start. No one would actually put real fish fingers in custard, even if just to pretend they were eating them.

It makes me wonder what they would have done if David Tennant had stayed a little longer. The Tenth Doctor would have had a different scene with Amelia altogether.

I'm never sure how much of what Matt says can be taken seriously. He's good at leg-pulling.

I'm not sure Ten and Amelia would have worked anyway.

It doesn't really matter. I wouldn't want to overeat anything.

TENTH DOCTOR: Funny sort of sand, this. There's a trace of something else. (he tastes it) Glah. Not good.
CHRISTINA: Well, it wouldn't be. It's sand.

The things that the Doctor put into his mouth in general was strange enough.

Amelia called Eleven "The Raggedy Doctor" because of Ten's attire. But I'm glad we didn't get a rehash of "The Girl in The Fireplace." If you know what I mean?

He does have that habit, which I touch upon in a few drabbles.

Yes, because Eleven was still in Ten's clothes, which didn't fit him right, and he was a mess because he just crashed the TARDIS. If he hadn't just regenerated, if it had still been Ten, would that have been the case? I doubt it.

Moffat said Ten would have been injured instead had David Tennant stayed a little longer. The obvious other changes would apply.

Time can be rewritten, so can scripts.;)
