Double Drabble: Dampened Spirits
Feb. 20th, 2022 04:47 pmTitle: Dampened Spirits
Author:
badly_knitted
Characters: Ianto, Jack.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 696: Water at
tw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: It’s a wonderful sunny day, but not everyone is enjoying it.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Outside, the sun was shining in a clear blue sky. There wasn’t a cloud in sight! It was the kind of glorious spring day people dreamed about, but seldom experienced, or at least not in Cardiff. Being on the coast meant being at the mercy of storms, wind, rain…
Even when the sun was shining, clouds could drift across at any moment, spoiling everything, so perfect weather was to be made the most of, and Ianto intended to do just that. Taking a flask of coffee and a snack with him, he made his way up to the tourist office, intending to find a seat up on the Plas where he could watch the world go by for an hour or so. If anyone needed him, they’d call his phone.
Opening the door, he stepped out into the sunshine and came face-to-face with Jack, shambling disconsolately along Mermaid Quay. He was soaking wet, his clothes, the coat, even his hair, dripping water.
Ianto frowned, glancing up at the cloudless sky, then back at Jack.
“You’re wet!”
“I noticed.” Jack pouted.
“But the sun’s shining!”
“I know. I got dazzled by the reflections off the water and fell off the boardwalk.”
