A/N: Double drabble.
Most of the time Rift retrievals went reasonably smoothly. Other times, they… didn’t. This had been one of the latter. When Jack and Ianto arrived back at the Hub, Ianto was in a Very Bad Mood. His normally pristine suit was stained with mud, and he was visibly limping.
Tosh was immediately concerned. “Ianto, what happened? Are you alright?”
Ianto forced a smile for his friend. “Nothing major, Tosh, don’t worry. I’m just suffering from a gigantic pain in the arse.” He gestured back over his shoulder at Jack, who was sheepishly following, carrying their find, now secured in a containment unit. “That one.”
“I said I was sorry,” Jack whined, setting his burden down on Tosh’s workstation. “It was muddy out there, and I slipped!”
“Which wouldn’t have happened if you’d been watching where you put your feet!” Ianto snapped back.
“What did he do?” Owen loved it when Jack got himself in trouble with Ianto.
“Like he said, he slipped, and knocked me flat on my back while trying to stay upright,” Ianto grumbled. “Then as if that wasn’t enough, when he went to help me up, he trod on my leg!”
Owen sniggered. “Adding injury to insult.”
