BtVS Triple Drabble: Rained On

Summary: Wet weather causes problems for Buffy.

A/N: Triple drabble.




Slaying was an all-weather gig; the vamps didn’t stay home just because it was raining. Not that it rained all that much here, most of the time; Sunnydale was generally a sunny place, but when it did rain it usually poured.


‘Sucks to be me.’


Willow and Xander were on the sidelines, sheltering under their umbrellas and cheering her on, providing moral support rather than physical assistance. Not that she needed their help, it was only the one vamp, and she was quickly getting the upper hand, but they’d been on the way to the Bronze, and she’d made herself all pretty in the hopes that Angel would show, and now she looked like a drowned rat. The only good point in all this was that so far she hadn’t fallen in the mud.


Buffy delivered a powerful roundhouse kick and the vamp went down hard, but as he hit the ground he lashed out with one long leg, hooking his foot around her ankle and…


SPLAT!


Oh, that was just great, now she looked like she’d been mudwrestling!


“Okay, that does it!” Scrambling to her feet, Buffy dove at the vamp, who was still floundering in the mud, and drove her stake through his heart. He exploded in a cloud of dust which, naturally, went all over her.


“Great fight!” Xander whooped. “Loving those high kicks!” He held out her umbrella.


Buffy stared at it. “That’s a tad redundant at this point, don’t you think?” She was soaked to the skin, plastered in thick mud, and liberally dusted with bits of vampire. The pouring rain was actually welcome since it was gradually sluicing away the worst of the muck.


“Huh?” Xander was staring fixedly at Buffy’s clinging clothes.


“Put your tongue away, Xand. I’d better go home and change.”

We had a rain-free day today, with actual sunshine! It's winter here, so it was cold, but the bright sunlight was nice.

Great! It's technically Spring here, but usually the Summer weather arrives sooner. It feels like Winter comes and goes.

Yep, still cloudy and rainy.*waits for my washing to dry under a roof*

We all can't be meteorologist's, but we can certainly analyse the weather.:)

Hardly. Winter here is cold, miserable, wet, and drags on forever. I hate it, plus I suffer badly with SAD so I'm exhausted all the time and struggle to concentrate on anything. I survive winter, just barely, but I don't enjoy it.

Donna Noble:...hot weather, cold weather, or even no weather.

What I'm trying to say (and probably failing at), is that in tropical countries, the houses have air vents for the hot. If people can't afford air conditioning. I'm not sure if the same can be applied for Winter. I'm use to my reasonably priced fan-heater for the cold.

When you're the one paying the electric bill, you learn not to use energy guzzling fan heaters unless it's really necessary. I had to when I couldn't use my coal-fire powered central heating last winter, barely managed to keep the temperature above freezing in one room, and my electricity bill tripled.

For two and a half months, through Christmas and into the new year, the only time I was warm was in bed at night, bundled up in clothes and piled high with blankets. Winter in Britain can be harsh.

I get the feeling where you live is generally warmer than where I live.

I had no choice, just had to live with it until I could find someone to re-line my chimney.

Yes. It was suddenly very humid today. I have my fan on, as I'm typing this. One country away from the equator.*looks at Indonesia on the map*

Yeah. I'm glad you've got a working chimney. I've never lived in a house that had one.

Trust me, you're better off not having to rely on a fire for heat. I have to clean it out twice a day, every day, no matter how I feel, then shovel coal, and bag up the cold ash to go in the dustbin, and it's all so heavy. It's exhausting at the best of times, takes half an hour at least every time I clean out the fire, then I have to make it up again before bed. The only good thing about a fire is being able to cook toast over it.

Okay. The reality of getting natural heat the old fashion way didn't really sink in till you pointed it out. I just wanted you to be comfy but it comes from making alot of effort.:(

I can see why some people hire others to deal with certain labour work. That is if you can afford it.

Which of course I can't, and it wouldn't be practical anyway, having someone come in twice a day to clean out the fire.

Sorry. I wish someone could volunteer their services. Makes mowing a larger lawn than my previous one not so bad in comparison.

Ironically, I do have someone who cuts the lawn for me, my friend who also does my shopping since I'm not able to go out much.
