A/N: Double drabble.
“I just want to make it clear this is NOT what I expected to happen!” Jack shouted breathlessly, running flat out, matching strides with Ianto as they half carried Tosh between them.
“I’d be surprised if it was,” Ianto replied. “Even you aren’t that idiotic. Now shut up and follow Owen and Gwen!”
Ten minutes earlier, their situation had been very different. Dealing with the latest unidentified alien to fall foul of the Rift had seemed a straightforward task; it wasn’t particularly large, no bigger than a Shetland pony, although the claws and teeth indicated it was probably a predator. Nevertheless, the team had successfully dealt with plenty of predatory species before, many of them a lot bigger and more menacing than this one. How hard could it be to capture?
“All we need to do is drive it into the corner where the walls meet, then once it’s penned in, we hit it with a tranquilliser dart,” Jack had explained.
Why was it always the simplest plans that went so wrong? They’d cornered the creature, Owen had shot the dart into its rump, and it had gone berserk.
“At this rate it’ll chase us right across Cardiff!” Ianto panted.
